It was Elijah, his grip firm on her arm, anger flashing in his eyes as he questioned her. For a moment, she thought she caught something else in his gaze…concern? Was she imagining it again, or had it really been there? Why would he be concerned after everything he'd said and done?
"I asked, what are you doing?!" He snapped, jolting her from her thoughts.
"Picking up the shattered glass," she replied flatly, as if it wasn't already obvious.
"Are you stupid? Do you follow every order, even if it hurts you?" He barked, and for a second, she was stunned. Why was he angry at her? Shouldn't that outrage be directed at Lucy, the one giving ridiculous orders? If anyone was being stupid here, it was his new bed partner. So why was she the one getting yelled at?
"Are you both serious right now?" Lucy scoffed, incredulous, but they both ignored her. That only seemed to fuel her growing irritation.
