Chapter 17 - STORMY NIGHT

"I am very busy, Mother. I don't have time for that. I need to go to the capital city in a few weeks from now, and I have a lot to take care of before I leave. Please understand and excuse me."

Shayne walked past his mother, and this time, Rachel let him be, which was a relief.

Shayne walked towards the strategy room, where a warrior had been waiting for him. This was the same warrior who had managed to inform him that Fenja was in the capital city.

"How is it now?" Shayne wanted to listen to the report immediately. That was why he avoided his mother as fast as he could.

"We managed to find the place where she has been living, Alpha," the warrior said. "She works as a cleaning lady."

The warrior then described in detail what kind of job that was, and Shayne's face turned darker the more he heard about it.

He balled his fists; he was angry, but at the same time, this thought crossed his mind.

Now that Fenja knew how hard it was to live alone in a place like the capital city, she wouldn't reject his offer to go back home, especially after she listened to their apology.

There was no reason for Fenja to keep being angry and stubborn.

This was Shayne's chance to get her back.

However, a hundred and eighty degrees from what Shayne thought about Fenja, the woman in question was actually sleeping soundly.

For the next few days, Fenja didn't see the Alpha; just like Jack told her, the Alpha had a business to attend to.

She didn't mind at all; she was still scared of him, actually, but she indeed needed this job and the money.

Fenja planned to stay for a few months until she could get enough money to move out. She would try to go to a different city.

On the third day she was here, Jack opened a bank account for her and taught her how to use it. He also bought dresses for her. They were so cute and beautiful.

However, when Fenja asked whether the money came from her salary, the old butler laughed. She was relieved when Jack said they were gifts from the Alpha.

Not only dresses, but the Alpha also bought her a few accessories and watches, and then more clothes…

Her new bedroom was finished on the fifth day, and she moved in, finding all her dresses had been stored there, along with all her new accessories.

"You don't need to do this for me…" Fenja felt bad because this was too much. It would be hard for her to move out.

"Somehow the Alpha's second personality thought of you as his mate, so he treated you as one."

Jack and Fenja had an in-depth conversation about it, but both of them couldn't figure out why he thought that way. She was sure they had never met before.

Fenja was once a luna; was she now a luna again in a way? Fate must have a good sense of humor.

Later that night, there was a storm, and it was rather scary. It made Fenja have a hard time falling asleep because the door to the balcony showed a full display of the gloomy sky.

She closed the curtain for her to be able to sleep, and she would have slept throughout the night if it were not for the Alpha…

At first, she didn't think much when she felt there was someone next to her, since she thought it was only a dream. There was no way someone would be sleeping by her side.

But then, the cinnamon scent that came from the person next to her was so real, especially when this person put their hand on her body and hugged her.

"Hm?" Fenja was still very sleepy, but her dream was too real for her not to check the reality for a while. And as it turned out, the reality was that Alpha was sleeping next to her, hugging her. She even could hear his heartbeat. "Wh—What?!"

Fenja was startled; she immediately pushed the Alpha away from her, but because of that, she woke him up, and he rubbed his face sleepily. He looked at her with that pair of innocent eyes.

It was scary that the same person could look so different just because their personality changed.

"Wh—What are you doing here?" Fenja stuttered; she looked at the Alpha closely and put some distance between them.

However, Alpha Jaxon glanced at the window. "It is stormy outside," he said in a small voice like a little child.

"Huh?" Fenja thought the Alpha was away. She didn't think he would be here tonight, because Jack said he would return tomorrow.

"It's a storm outside. I am afraid…" His voice was trembling; he hugged the pillow and looked as if he was about to cry.

Was that even possible for him to look that cute?!

Fenja's first instinct was to come to him and comfort him, but then she was conflicted; this was the same person who wanted to kill her a week ago.

Should I call Jack?

Fenja contemplated her options, but suddenly there was lightning and thunder that split the night sky, and Alpha Jaxon covered his ears with both his palms. He was visibly trembling.

"Please, help me… Please, help me… Help me…" He muttered under his breath, closing his eyes tightly.

The sight tugged at Fenja's heartstrings.

Right now, she didn't see the scary alpha, who wanted to kill her, but a little child, who was scared of the storm. She was also scared of storms, too.

"It's okay, it's okay… It will be over soon."

Against her better judgment, Fenja reached out to him and comforted him. She hugged him closely and patted his back while singing a children's song that she knew to calm him down.

She wondered which personality this was. She didn't remember Jack telling her there was a child personality among the three.
