Chapter 18 - THE CRUEL ONE

Fenja didn't care if the one she was hugging right now was The Real One or The Lover, let alone The Cruel One.

"It's okay. It's okay…" Fenja patted his back.

"Don't leave me, please. Don't leave me," he said as he clung to her.

Fenja remembered The Lover was the one who had said something like this; thus, she thought it must be him, even though it didn't feel right. This personality was too childish…

In the end, they slept together throughout the night with Fenja cuddling him in her arms. The Alpha hugged her tightly, and she could feel his body trembling…

"Sleep, sleep, little baby, sleep, sleep…" Fenja kept singing the song until she fell asleep too.

The next day, when the sky was clear and the sunlight couldn't filter in because Fenja had closed the curtain, the Alpha woke up. His eyes were sharp, as if he had been awake the whole time.

This was not a pair of innocent eyes that Fenja saw last night; there was a malice in those eyes. He growled dangerously when he felt Fenja's body was too close to him, especially when he saw her sleeping face.

This was that woman!

His claws emerged, and he was ready to kill her!

Alpha Jaxon was ready to end this woman's life when suddenly she patted his back and hummed that stupid song she had been singing last night to put him to sleep, which gave him a headache.

Fenja must have felt his movement, and in her sleepiness, she thought Jaxon was awake because of the storm; thus, she tried to comfort him, coaxing him to fall asleep again.

This stopped Jaxon from whatever cruel thing he was going to do to her. His brows furrowed; he didn't like this treatment.

He was not a child who needed to be comforted, but then, for some reason, he couldn't bring himself to continue his intention.

This woman was very stupid. She didn't even sense the danger around her. She was going to die very soon if she kept up this behavior.

And Jaxon was so close to ripping her face off and clawing her heart out of her chest, but she didn't even have any sense of danger at all.

This woman must have been living a comfortable life to be able to live like this, blind to her surroundings.

Little did he know, Fenja was too exhausted to care about her surroundings.

But in the end, Jaxon didn't do anything; he only stared at her until his claws retracted back and he put down his hand. He would let it slide for this one time because she actually helped the brat last night with the storm.

However, if he got a second chance to kill her, he would do that without hesitation. With that thought, Jaxon closed his eyes and fell asleep again.

It was a nice morning, and he had a lot to take care of, but that was none of his business. Let his beta and gamma deal with those unpleasant problems.

"Good morning, Jack," Fenja greeted the old butler, who looked panicked.

"Morning, Fenja," he said briefly, as he walked quickly towards the door, and from the dining room, she could hear another voice, a man, talking with the butler.

Fenja was curious about what they were talking about because it sounded very important, and she had never seen anyone come to visit this place before. Her curiosity got the better of her when she moved closer to the entrance and saw a man whom she used to see on the news.

That man was Alpha Jaxon's right-hand man, his beta… or his gamma, and his name was Lance. He was very handsome and tall; the aura that surrounded him was not as scary as the Alpha's, but he had his own charisma.

During her stay in this place, Fenja would clean the house, but Jack didn't seem to be bothered by the results of her work; it almost felt as if he let her do that just to keep her busy and bored out of her mind.

On the second day she was here, Fenja found a beautiful greenhouse behind the pack house. There were so many flowers there, but it seemed that the place was rarely visited and was in poor condition. Thus, for three days, she cleaned up the greenhouse and rearranged the flowers.

"I can't find him. I have been looking everywhere, but I still can't find him." Lance looked frustrated; he kept clicking his phone and tried to make phone calls to several people while talking to Jack as well.

"I am sure I saw him enter his bedroom when he returned, but this morning I couldn't find him anywhere."

Fenja furrowed her brows. Based on their conversation, she figured out who they were searching for.

"I am sorry for the interruption," Fenja said sheepishly because she realized she would let them know that she had been eavesdropping on their conversation.

The two of them must be too distraught to notice her presence.

"Who are you?" Lance frowned; he put his phone into his pocket again. "Are you that woman?"

Fenja didn't have any idea what Lance meant by 'that woman.'

"Yes, she is," Jack confirmed that. "What do you want to say, Fenja? We are rather busy right now; let's talk later."

"I thought you were looking for the Alpha," Fenja said.

Lance took a step closer to her. He was in dire need to find Jaxon. "Where is he? Do you know where he is?"

Fenja nodded. "Yes, I do."

The look of relief washed over their faces when Fenja said that, but then it was replaced with concern when she told them where the Alpha was and how he could get to her bedroom.

"Did he do anything to you?" Jack asked Fenja, as the two of them walked towards her bedroom, where Lance had gone ahead of them.

"No." Fenja shook her head. She followed by telling Jack what happened last night.
