Chapter 22 - GETTING SICK

Jaxon crouched down and stared at her blood, where she hurt herself because of the sharp shard of the broken glass.

Ignoring the fact Fenja had not yet healed like normal shifter, there was this vicious smirk on the corner of his lips. He liked the color and the smell of it.

"Here. Drink this and you can go." Jaxon stretched out the glass to her, but Fenja couldn't take it, she couldn't even lift a finger.

There was this burning sensation that centered in her heart.

Fenja squeezed her eyes tightly and heard Jack came approaching them, asking what happened and then squatted down close to her.

"What happened here, alpha?" Jack was shocked to see Fenja was bleeding.

"Stop overreacting," Jaxon said begrudgingly, he stood up and drank the wine himself. "Those only small cuts, she will heal in no time."

However, Jack frowned and noticed the abnormality. "No, alpha, the cuts don't heal," he said. He was wondering about why her wound didn't immediately heal and keep bleeding. "Fenja? Fenja?"

Jaxon furrowed his brows. He couldn't see her face because she had lowered her head and her messy buns had become loose, thus strands of her hair cascaded down and covered her face.

"It doesn't feel right," Jack said, he couldn't carry Fenja, but he couldn't ask for the alpha to help him. "I will call a warrior and take her to the hospital."

But, for their surprised, the alpha grunted in annoyance, put down his glass and carried Fenja himself.

Jaxon didn't think it would go this far. There was no way a shifter couldn't heal from such small wound.

She should be able to recover in less than a second from such small cuts, but the fact even after hours the wound didn't even heal a little bit was very weird.

When Jaxon was carrying her, he noticed one more thing; the presence of her wolf was none.

How could that happen?

"Clean up the wound," Jaxon finally said.

He refused to bring Fenja to the hospital and carried her back to her bedroom, after that he left.

However, after he received a report from Jack that her wounds didn't heal immediately like a normal shifter would do, Jaxon came to her bedroom again. He found her condition was still the same, if it didn't get even worse.

Without a second thought, Jack immediately rushed out of the bedroom and called Sam. He was a doctor, but more importantly, he was a shifter.

And for the fact that human didn't even know about the existence of the shifter, they needed to be careful if they were in need to get an intensive care, since human doctor wouldn't know about their body.

Thankfully, they rarely needed their assistance.

It only took Sam less than an hour to reach the pack house and checked on Fenja's condition, since he lived in one of the houses around this area and thankfully, he was not on duty tonight.

"She has been checked by a doctor often," Jaxon stated.

"And all of that because of you, alpha," Jack said, which made him received an angry glared from Jaxon.

Somehow, his cruel side came to the surface more often than usual, but then around this month was indeed the time when the alpha was the most unstable during a year.

This was not the first time he acted out like this and wouldn't be the last either. Even the medicine and the treatment didn't really help.

The doctor had added more dosage in his prescription, but it didn't help to stabilize his mood at all. If anything, his cruel side kept getting worse.

"There is remaining poison inside her body," Sam said, he stood up and approached the alpha and Jack. He explained about the poison and why she couldn't heal from that small wound.

Sam also explained because of that poison her body was almost the same like human if it was not worse. She would heal like human, which meant, for that such small wound, it would take her a few days to heal.

Fenja would also fall sick easily, and all the characteristic that human displayed.

"I don't think she can shift into her beast now."

Jack remembered when the first time she came here. She didn't know that this was a pack house and even after he told her it would be fine for her to shift and run around the garden in her beast form, Fenja didn't do it.

Jack had never seen her shifted into her beast at all.

"She is that weak?" Jaxon didn't like to hear that. "We should just kill her if she became a burden like this."

"Alpha…" Sam reminded him that he couldn't do that. He knew about the alpha's condition and was the one, who had prescribed his medicine.

"Heal her," Jaxon said. He didn't like to have a weak plaything.

"I don't think I can heal her, alpha. Poison is not my strong element."

"Do something and heal her." If the people kept telling him that he couldn't kill her, then at the very least, that woman shouldn't be a burden for this pack.

Sam was about to explain the situation, but in the end, he could only come up with one reply. "I will try my best," he said and then added. "Please, prevented her from drinking alcohol, because she has a strong reaction to it."

Not only her body was weak, but she had a few conditions too.

Jaxon glanced at Fenja, he was being resentful toward her. This woman was simply a burden.

The next day Fenja was woken up because she felt her head was going to split into two. She groaned and tried to curl her body, but then she smelled this cinnamon scent and suddenly on alert.

Her eyes opened wide when she saw the alpha was laying down next to her, staring at her with those innocent eyes.

He even smiled at her happily.
