Fenja described the Alpha as afraid of the storm, and apparently, his personality last night didn't match the other three that Jack had described before.
"We will talk about that later."
"Is the Alpha afraid of storms?" Fenja was curious. She didn't expect Jack to tell her, but he replied to her question vaguely.
"Something bad happened to him during the storm a few years ago, so maybe because of that he has a strong feeling whenever there is a storm."
Fenja nodded, and when they reached her bedroom, they heard an argument from inside. It seemed Jaxon and Lance were in a disagreement.
"That's none of your business!" Jaxon growled and then walked out of the room. He stopped for a while when he saw Fenja was there. He glared at her, which made the woman cower behind Jack.
This must be that cruel one, and his next words confirmed that.
"Throw her out of the house!" He glowered. "I don't want to see her again!"
Fenja grimaced. She knew better than to take the words to heart, but they still stung.
"Don't listen to that; he will change his mind again later," Jack reassured Fenja.
Fine. I will think of the money and the benefit I get by living here then.
After that, Fenja didn't see the Alpha for three days straight, and her days were rather uneventful and peaceful. She liked it this way better.
However, one afternoon on the fourth day, Jack brought a few boxes into her bedroom and informed her of something very shocking.
"The Alpha wants to take you out to dinner." Jack informed her that she would meet with the Alpha during dinner.
But having a dinner outside… Would that be alright?
"Do you think it's alright?"
"The Alpha insisted."
From the way Jack furrowed his brows, Fenja could guess that the old man had gone through hell and back to persuade him not to do this but failed miserably in the end.
"There will be a lot of people, and even if the cruel one comes to the surface, he will, at least, have the decency to hold himself back from causing trouble for himself in front of so many people." Jack tried to reassure Fenja, but it sounded more like a piece of advice for himself.
"Try the dress first; I don't know if it will fit you or not."
Fenja nodded. She closed the door while Jack was waiting for her outside. She opened the largest box and gasped because inside there was a beautiful black dress with sparkling stones littered on the silky fabric.
She was not sure how much this dress cost, but she was certain she wouldn't be able to afford it.
This was stunning! Even the best dress that Nadia had would look pale in comparison! Fenja smiled bitterly as she compared herself to Nadia subconsciously.
Because of what happened and the way Shayne treated her, she would always be jealous of Nadia. She always got the best, even from her mate.
The former Luna Rachel always compared Fenja with Nadia. The last year she lived in the pack house while Shayne was away in a battle was a nightmare.
Now that Fenja was here, she wondered how she could survive that.
"Stop thinking about them!" Fenja patted her cheeks and started to wear the dress, and, surprisingly, it fit her perfectly.
The cut of the dress was so perfect, it made her body look more voluptuous and her ass rounded.
Fenja giggled. She twirled in front of the mirror like a little girl and then remembered that Jack was still waiting for her to know about the dress.
She opened the door and showed it to him.
"I think it's perfect!" she said happily. Jack smiled at her happiness.
"You look great, Fenja," Jack said gently, as if he were talking to his granddaughter.
"Really?" Fenja twirled in her dress and looked excited.
"Open the other boxes too," Jack suggested.
Fenja didn't need to be told twice, as she rushed into her bedroom again and opened the other three smaller boxes.
The first one was a pair of shoes in a white color that contrasted her black dress, and the other two were jewelry boxes. She found a beautiful pair of earrings and a ring; the last box was a necklace with the same color as her eyes.
"You look so pretty," Jack complimented her sincerely, and Fenja couldn't stop seeing herself in the mirror.
She had never worn something like this before. She felt fantastic, as if she was the most beautiful woman in the entire realm.
She giggled at the thought.
"Someone will come to do your hair around six o'clock, and a car will be waiting for you to take you to the restaurant, so you need to be ready."
"Someone to do my hair?" Fenja was surprised. "There will be someone who will specifically do my hair?"
"Yes."
Fenja beamed; she hummed. Her steps were so light, and she thanked Jack profusely. She couldn't wait until the time came.
And when the clock rolled over to the time, a beautiful woman came knocking at her door. She introduced herself as Grace.
She did Fenja's hair beautifully; she made a messy bun above her hair and put a single accessory to accentuate her wavy hair.
And after a little bit more touch here and there, Fenja was ready to leave.
She literally bounced on her way out of her room to the car.
"The Alpha has a meeting, but he will meet you in the restaurant. You only need to wait there, okay? There will be two warriors coming with you, just in case something happens. But I am very certain the Alpha will not do anything reckless in public if it comes to that."
Fenja thanked Jack again and she went into the car, which drove away towards the most expensive restaurant in the capital city.
Fenja tried not to embarrass herself, but she felt very nervous. She had never eaten in this kind of place.
