After a while, I got back from the palace. The whole family welcomed me, but I left them behind and went to see the boy I talked to two days ago.
I walked in and found him in the same position he was in a few days ago.
"Are you ready for your first training?"
"You're back. I heard you got arrested," he said, his gaze meeting mine.
"You've got a lot of ears going around, huh?"
He chuckled.
"Now get up."
"I can't, my legs won't carry me."
I walked to him, grabbed his arm, and shoved him up. His legs were shaking, and his whole body leaned on mine. I grabbed his chin and tilted it up so he would look at me. He was blushing...?
"Do you have a fever or something?"
"N–no," he mumbled, avoiding eye contact.
Then I slowly realized why he was blushing—his head was pressed into my chest.
"You really are short," I muttered, placing both hands on his waist to hold him steady.
"Is it hard for you to keep standing?"
He nodded, but I kept holding him so he wouldn't fall.
I might not be a doctor, so I didn't know if what I was doing was effective or right, but it was the only thing that came to mind. After two hours of holding him in place, I let him go. He was standing on his own—well, at least for a few seconds, until he fell back onto the bed.
The commander walked into the room just as I sat in the chair.
"What are you doing here, Commander?"
"It's time for your lesson with Mage Weliam."
"Hm, I don't wanna go," I said, leaning back in my seat.
"You have to go. It's the Emperor's order."
"Ugh, fine." I got up and turned to the boy.
"You did well today, kiddo."
"Please stop calling me 'kiddo.'"
I didn't say anything else and walked out. The commander followed me.
"Your lessons will be 90 Seryn, then you'll have training with me for 3 Solaris."
"Is Seryn supposed to mean minutes, and Solaris hours?"
"That's right. Minutes and hours are usually called that in the southern empires."
"Interesting, lets go now"
