Diana's arms rose, wrapping around his shoulders like she was pulling him into a hug. Stefanos glanced at her arms, then back to her face. The confusion was palpable.
"What the fuck do you think you're doing?"
"What do you think?" she asked, her lips angled into a forced smile that barely passed for anything but dry. And before Stefanos could say another word, her lips met his in a kiss, locking him in place.
He seemed shocked at first because the Diana he had known since more than a year into their marriage would never kiss him—she would never initiate a kiss. So why would she now?
He tried to pull away, but she held him tighter.
His face twisted into a deep frown, but instead of shoving her off, his hand slipped into the back of her hair and he deepened the kiss.
Bile rose to Diana's throat.
She'd only kissed him to distract him, to dissolve whatever suspicion he was harboring in his head. She hadn't expected this. Hell, he was devouring her at this point.
