The house was nearly empty.
Stefanos was nowhere to be found, and Diana doubted he was coming home that night. Even the security presence was scarce.
Did something happen?
The rain had stopped falling.
She turned away from the window and paced the room for a short while in deep thought. It had been three days and Ian hadn't contacted her.
Why?
Maybe there was no update. That had to be it. Still…he could have called, right?
Her gaze shifted to the spot behind the bedside table where she'd hidden the cell phone and bit hard into her lip.
Should she…call?
Just to check in, of course. To ask how things were progressing. It was only fair, after all, she was stuck here, helpless and unable to do anything. Her apprehension was justified.
Hurrying on her feet, she locked the door, rushed to the table, and shifted it out of the way until she could take out the phone.
