The first turned toward his companion just in time to see his headless body hit the ground with a sickening thud.
The last remaining guard backed away, trembling violently. Then… it appeared.
A tall figure stepped from the shadows, red eyes glowing like embers in the night.
The guard froze, his feet trembling but he wouldn't dare make a single move. And for the first time in his life, he knew exactly what fear tasted like.
"I thought your kind prided themselves on protecting humans from vampires," Kieran said, voice low and laced with venom. He stepped closer to the trembling wolf guard, a wicked grin playing at the corners of his lips. "But here you are… bullying your own kind like a coward."
"I—she—well—" the guard stammered, eyes darting around in fear.
"What now? Cat got your tongue?" Kieran's smile widened, cruel and mocking. "Let me help you with that."
Before the wolf could utter another word, Kieran moved.
