Valeska's eyes fluttered open to meet a white ceiling above her head. The beeping of a machine beside her and an IV drip inserted into her wrist.
A look of confusion was etched on her face, wondering what had happened until the train of memories hit her.
The fire, the dead bodies, the vampires, and Kieran.
Valeska tried to get up from the bed, but a sudden wave of headache hit her. On instinct, she grabbed her head, wincing in pain.
"You shouldn't push yourself so hard. You're only going to make it worse," she suddenly heard.
The speed at which she snapped her neck toward the sound gave her another bang that got her wincing once again.
"See what I mean?" said Nevian, dropping the glass of water on the bedside table.
A look of confusion was written on Valeska's face as she stared at Nevian. "What are you doing here?"
Nevian cocked an eyebrow. "I came to see you, of course. After the fire, I thought I lost you. Thankfully, I saw you."
