Chapter 3 - God's Mistake

Casper's mind was empty and numb, his body was exhausted from the lack of essence he had as all that remained was cold rationality. Casper was able to turn his body intangible just before the blow destroyed his body but that small action greatly deprived him of his essence.

His body was full and numb as he slowly regained movement, the water around him surrounded his body. The cold water brushed past it and gave him a warm comfort, his brown eyes glowed in the dark.

He just didn't care about anything, or anyone, right now. The mere thought of caring seemed exhausting.

After a while in the sea, he sighed

'What should I do?'

Despite the assault by the Levithan, his immediate goal remained simple, which was to travel to the rear of the Followers of War and ambush them. But to do that, he needed his cohort…. if they were alive.

Casper didn't know how long passed but after a while he slowly regained his movement. His essence once again flourished as he quickly made his way to the top.

The sight he saw wasn't pretty, but the casualties were way less than he expected. Two entire destroyers were capsized as crimson blood stained the clear water, the Leviathan Locked with greed at the sight.

His one grey eye which was scarred seemed to be lazy, a result of one of his battles Casper presumed. The other sea blue eye gazed at the bodies littering the vast ocean and smirked.

Casper saw the seven division commanders fighting for their breath, each one of them used their abilities. They summoned fire, hail, plants and more, fully utilising their Aspect but it did little to no damage towards the towering monstrosity.

Casper was about to engage and fight with them, but his Senses told him to look deeper, his eyes couldn't resist looking at the underbelly. His senses told him to attack there but his mind was cluttered with doubts.

Should he trust his senses? Was his attribute that strong?

Casper couldn't help but clench his hands, this was his power! He shouldn't have any doubts about it, so far he could only remember it helping him. With a slight push of his body he propelled his body through the water.

Casper soon reached the area his senses told him, and just as he expected, a weakness that could be exploited was laying there. A large piece of unprotected flesh, the scales were completely eviscerated and the skin was entirely scarred.

Casper grinned as his hands gripped the handle of his axe, his essence soon augmented his weapon as an instinct as he raised it over his head. In an instant he let out two flying slashes.

The slash cut the water down to its molecule as it continued to move toward the Leviathans' injury without halting. The slash immediately pierced the skin as the Leviathan roared out in pain, its body toppling over itself.

A wicked and furious grin washed over Casper's face as he furiously delivered blows toward the Leviathan. The Leviathan roared with terror and pain as he toppled and twisted in the sea, smashing against more battleships and causing even more casualties.

His pained groan did not escape the commanders eyes as all of them combined their attacks in an effort to put down the creature. But it seemed to be more resilient than they thought as he did not falter at their siege.

The Leviathan seemed to sense his defeat and decided to retreat, if he kept going he might actually be slain. In the first time of his long life, the Leviathan ran away, his body sinking deep into the sea as it retreated to the depths of the ocean, running away scared because of Casper.

The Leviathan summoned torrents and floods of water, to add a bit of protection and stop them from chasing him.

Casper quickly surfaced after seeing the Leviathan retreat, he had no qualms about not chasing it, if they decided to try and corner it Casper might actually lose his life.

If he sensed his inevitable defeat, the beast would go on a rampage without a care of his life. He was already too much to handle without him not putting his life on the line, it was better for him to let him go.

He just hoped it wouldn't interfere further, but Casper couldn't help but ponder its rank. It was definitely above Awakened, either a Fallen or a Corrupted. Casper could also say that he might be a Terror or a Titan.

But the surprising part was that it was old, Casper could see it. Its skin wasn't that bright and its eyes were stormy grey without a hint of clarity, its rank might've fallen down because of it. Casper hoped not to meet the Leviathan at its peak; he wasn't ready to sign his death certificate after two days of being transmigrated.

"...."

Casper looked up at the sky, his eyes held a hint of sadness and grief. The battle with the Leviathan had cost him almost four thousand lives, putting a dent in his forces.

Two of the seven masters were severely injured and probably couldn't continue. The only reason they won was because of Casper's attribute, [Supernatural Senses]. It was a game changer, Casper couldn't quite put his finger on it but that attribute was definitely special.

His hand held a bottle of alcohol as he quietly drank himself to happiness, even though he knew the people weren't real and that they were all just constructs. He couldn't help but feel sorry for them, his hands covered his eyes as he suppressed a sob.

This was reality, people died all the time. It wasn't his fault that they died, they were just pitifully weak. He didn't force them to sign up and fight, it was their choice. Casper tried to assure himself that he wasn't to blame.

His hands shakily wandered to the cheap wine, he cupped it in between his hands and sipped a bit. Casper had two more days before they reached the combat zone. He had to master his abilities before that, right now he had two goals.

To completely understand and utilise [Supernatural Senses] to its fullest potential and try to use [Incorporeal] in combat. The massive strain on his essence, definitely held him back from actively using it but if he could figure out how to use it for a small period of time like two to three milliseconds. He could theoretically be invincible.
