Chapter 4 - War!

Casper signed to the other ships, the cover of night masked their entry towards the island. Tens of ships sailed towards the island gradually, the darkness providing cover to them.

Casper and his crew sailed to the island over the past two days, they had encountered many maritime creatures, some strong, some weak but none were as strong as the Leviathan they faced before. Due to this, they had no casualties, allowing Casper to maintain his forces.

The island was quite far from them but their ships gradually closed the distance, Casper didn't hope for much. His goal laid in ending the Nightmare, he hoped that killing the advanced army would do it and free him from his slumber.

His eyes focused on the distant island as his body tensed, ready for combat at a moment's notice. But even after minutes, they hadn't met anyone, noticing that Casper didn't relax but grew even more wary.

They had definitely leaked their plans to the Followers of War but they still hadn't encountered any resistance, this had to be a trap, there was no other explanation.

Casper's eyes unknowingly wandered to the water as hundreds of dark shadows passed by, Casper gave a gentle smile seeing the schools of fish passing by until his eyes widened.

This was too large to be a fish, his body tensed with caution as he turned back to see thousands of flaming arrows fly onto the deck of the ships. The nock of the arrows were wrapped in a white cloth which was set ablaze, they rained down like hellfire.

Their ships caught on fire as hundreds started burning, a few of them quickly snapped awake from their stupor as they readied their weapons to engage. Casper studied the arrows for a few more moments before his face turned grim, if this continues they would surely catch on fire and die.

"Everyone, we're gonna engage! Ready your weapons and go underwater, it's going to be underwater warfare!" Casper yelled at the top of his lungs, rallying his army.

He summoned his axe which weaved itself from nothing, Casper gripped his starp tightly as he made his way to the stern of the ship. With a resounding blast he launched himself in the water, his eyes wandered around as he perceived hundreds of blurry figures.

Casper launched himself straight at one of the hundreds of figures, his arm went behind his back as he delivered a terrifying blow, parting the water. But the figure seemed equally powerful as they manuevered around the slash.

Casper could slowly see better, theur blurry figure slowly being discerned. He attributed this to [Supernatural Senses] it was truly a life saver, but the enemy held their ground. He spun around him and delivered a ferocious punch to his cheek.

Casper was flung aside before he quickly continued his assault, no matter how many times Casper tried to strike him they were able to deftly avoid it. Casper noticed that they were trained in such combat, 'Such a headache,' he whispered in his mind.

Casper grit his teeth as furies of strikes landed on his body, yet he wasn't even able to land one. 'Curse his sight!' Casper grumbled inwardly, as tens of punches landed on him.

Casper wished he could see better, his body instinctively caught one of the punches as he delivered a counter-strike, 'It seems like I'm also slowly adapting to the kind combat.' Casper grinned happily.

Casper dragged his feet in the water as he delivered another solid punch to the persons cheek, his senses which were being enhanced by his attribute heard a distinct crack coming from the man's bones. Casper's face lit up as he continued his assault, after a few more punches the man's face exploded, causing a spray of red blood to spew over the water, slightly colouring it.

Casper looked over the battlefield as thousands of blurry figures engaged in deep combat, blood spewed from the inanimate bodies colouring the water red.

Casper noticed a fight going on in the distance where three people were ganging up on one person, normally he would ignore this but the person being ganged up on wore a uniform off his army.

His hands spread out, as he soared through the cold waters to reach the fellow. His fingers tightened around the handle of his axe a cold glare cast at the group as he tried to behead one of them.

But instead of a clean slice of his head as Casper expected a resounding thump echoed in the water. The women's wet chestnut hair float in the water, her leg tightened as she delivered a kick to Casper sending flying from the water.

He landed on the deck of one of the Triremes, as he removed the axe covering his body, as he coughed loudly. In the last moment he was kicked, Casper had been able to protect his stomach with his axe. He did not want to think of the outcomes if he hadn't, his body snapping like a Kit-Kat might've been one of the less worse options.

Casper stood up with strain his grip around the axe tightened as he leaned against the wall of the ship. In an instant a tentacle of water broke from the water and landed on the deck, a women exited from the elevator, as her hands twirled around her sword.

She had chestnut hair which reached her shoulders, and tightly clung to it due to being damp. Her eyes were suffused with light and shone brightly, like two stars. She wore a simple red tunic and wore wooden sandals.

They circled each other for a few moments, as the tension bubbled in the air, "My name is Solvane, and I'm your opponent. Don't worry, the death I grant you shall be merciful."

She said with a hint of arrogance, Casper slightly remembered her as an antagonist in the Second Nightmare, other than being skilled and immortal he didn't know much about her. "I hope you aren't immortal, Princess. If you aren't, then it's my victory "

Casper silently tried to probe as he placed his axe on the ground, the women slightly chuckled at his words. "Your arrogance is unfounded, I guarantee that you wouldn't even be able to land a scratch on me."

She said in a gentle tone, Casper smirked at her words his fingers wandering to the axe he placed on the ground as he softly pulled it up. "Let's find out." He said smoothly.

The two stared at each other for a few moments before they kicked the ground and launched at each other. Solvane's sword skirted around Casper's axe and tried to strike him down.

But Casper deftly avoided and threw his axe around her, he willed his body to move and in instant teleported toward his axe. He tightly gripped it and turned in the air, his axe aiming to slash down at her throat.

But Solvane countered by pulling her body near the ground and pivoted, her grip didn't falter as they clashed their blades, creating a loud echo and a flash of light. Their eyes locked onto each other as they both grinned and jumped away.
