Chapter 7 - Crushing Arrogance

An Aspirant killing a Great Titan that had never happened in history but it has to happen today, he was going to make it happen.

Casper mentioned the Titan's weak spot towards their army. As the first beams of the rising sun broke through the stormy clouds before it was quickly concealed by the dark clouds.

Casper summoned his axe and glanced at Solvane.

"Don't underestimate him, he is lightning fast and also quite sharp."

He was the only one who had seen the terrible creature in action. As such, only he knew how dangerous the demon really was.

Solvane nodded, her eyes tracked the creature's movements, afraid that it would surprise them with an attack.

The two walked towards the Titan as its figure twisted and turned, their weapons ready as they both arched forward slightly and jumped up into the sky.

The Leviathan let out an indescribable sound, the waters of the sea suddenly grew restless, rippling as they were assaulted by sonic waves.

Casper acted first, his hand clenched the grip of his axe as he funneled essence into it, he let out two terrifying slashes which went straight for the abomination's body.

The Leviathan slithered around the sky as it swiftly tried to dodge the attack, but it forgot to account for its massive size. Casper's blows landed on the tail of the serpent but failed to do any lasting damage, other than heating its scales up.

Solvane though used his attack as a feint and delivered a crushing pinpoint thrust targeted at the edge of his scale.

Her already tremendous physical powers which were enhanced by her Aspect seemed to do the trick as she was successfully able to pull out one singular scale.

The Leviathan grunted but it was enough for the ground to quake, its teeth barred at the both of them as he tried to swallow their plummeting figures.

Yet, during this time their army didn't sit still.

The thirteen masters quickly flew sky high as they provided cover for them, their weapons clashed with the Titans teeth, as the Awakened pelted hundreds of rum barrels.

Their plan was clear, while the Masters and Commanders were busy distracting the beast. They would completely drench the being in alcohol and set it on fire, it was just like throwing a molotov cocktail but with more steps.

The Leviathan froze for a moment, then twisted its head looking at the humans who were grounded. While the Leviathan had air superiority, its main enemies were grounded.

He didn't have any long range attacks other than his plasma blast, which took a long time to charge, to attack them. So the only option it had was to go into the water, but it seemed reluctant.

'Maybe….. just maybe it would retreat'

Casper thought naively, but the Leviathan suddenly lunged forward, its massive figure causing a huge wave to sputter out everywhere.

There was no hesitation, no warning. Just a deafening sonic boom and a huge blue figure that shot down like a javelin.

A hurricane gale rose from the confounding fury of the monster's lunge.

Now that the creature had descended down out off his own volition, Casper didn't have to waste much energy jumping up and down to damage him.

But this also caused a slight problem.

The rum splashed on him started washing away in the water, this discouraged the Awakened as they hesitated to continue executing their plan.

"Don't waver, continue your plan. While the rum has washed away, it is mixing with the water. As long as you pour enough and set it on fire it will catch fire-!"

Solvane didn't wait up, as she recklessly charged to the Leviathan's back, her rapier gracefully extended outwards as she tried to recreate the previous attack. But the Leviathan had already expected this as his neck turned at break-neck speed as its mouth twisted wide open.

Solvane wasn't able to leverage herself due to being in the air, as she could only helplessly watch for the Titans maw but at that crucial moment.

Casper barged near the creature's neck as his axe crackled with essence, his axe descended down into his neck, but unlike the previous times where the scales resisted all of his attacks.

This time the weapon passed through his scale and exploded in lightning, completely shattering a huge portion of it and leaving an X shaped scar.

After battling with the Leviathan the first time, Casper had understood that he was frighteningly weak against armoured opponents. His strength was barely adequate to leave a small scratch.

He had thought long and hard about this and perfected a secret skill, while his weapon was a fraction of a second close to striking the opponent's armour.

He would use his attribute [Incorporeal] to turn it intangible allowing him to bypass the armour and attack the skin. He still hadn't mastered it, as he had wasted a small chunk of his essence on that attack, he was about half a second too fast in activating it.

The Leviathan shrieked at his wound as it thrashed around the place, splashing water vigorously enough to create waves.

While the Leviathan was distracted, Casper used him as leverage to spring upon him and catch Solvane by the collar of her armour.

"I don't know what you're trying to prove but stop risking your life, you were the one who suggested teaming up but if this is how you team up leave me out of it!

"You keep using me as bait and recklessly charge in, I can't keep saving your sorry ass. We fight together, not against each other!"

Casper broke out in a fit

He was genuinely sour, she kept using him as bait and recklessly charged in. If he kept saving her, he could potentially be killed.

Solvane gritted her teeth as she painstakingly nodded, "I understand, I won't charge in." She muttered under her breath.

Casper turned to face the monstrosity who was writhing in pain, "Good, that one move exhausted a quarter of my essence. If I wasn't panicked, trying to save you, it would have cost less.

"Now that we've reached a consensus, let's talk about the plan. I'll be the bait, you're the attacker, we'll switch between ourselves."
