Chapter 2 - Onto the Sea's

Casper's eyes looked at the sea ahead, dozens of schools of fish passed by their ship. Few days had passed since they set sail, during that time Casper had learnt a variety of things.

The first was that the twenty five thousand soldiers under his command were split under 7 divisions, each headed by a Commander. These commanders were led by a Fleet Commander, which was him. Most of the twenty five thousand soldiers were awakened while others were mundane.

The commander that Casper had taken over was once a slave who had gradually risen through the rank, finally becoming a commander. He himself was a master just like the other division commanders.

Their mission was a bit complex, while the Followers of War were busy fighting at the frontlines, their goal was to infiltrate the rear and surround them. But this was just a facade, this wasn't their real plan.

They had gathered an army of twenty five thousand people and made them infiltrate the rear to clear the way for the ones who'd push from the frontlines. While the enemy was busy dealing with the rear, the frontlines would start pushing, a sinister plan that would doom everyone attacking in the rear to death.

To execute their plans, they had deliberately leaked their mission parameters, to make them focus on the rear more. Casper looked at his fleet, with a hint of sadness but it was quickly covered up.

He had to figure out what the objective of the Nightmare was? Did he have to bash the rear and successfully destroy their army or did he have to destroy the rear then trap them in the center and annihilate them.

Casper detected a hint of malice originating from the water, as a small whirlpool started forming in the water, it twisted and turned as it grew stronger. Casper's eyes widened with surprise.

"Turn to port!" Casper shouted as he quickly arrived on the bow of the ship, his eyes wandered to the whirlpool, as it grew larger. The hint of malice he was detecting was becoming stronger as the smell it was emitting made him reminisce about the stories of monsters his parents told.

Leviathans, ancient sea monsters that preyed upon the damned. 'But why am I thinking about them now?' Casper thought as he tried not to revulse from the smell.

His hands opened as an axe started weaving itself into existence. It had a wooden cast, which was glossed with black and had a steel head. Its grip was made from tree bark and had a wooden pommel.

Casper's ears perked up as he heard a voice coming from the depths, "Humans! Humans! They keep disturbing me! They wander into my territory and they try to hunt me! The Master of these waters, I am The Eater of The Damned, God's Mistake. I bow to no one!"

Casper took a step back as he clutched his ears, what were these voices he was hearing?, what was the smell reeking from the waters. It confused him, was he already going mad? It wasn't even two days and he had already become a nutcase, he silently chided himself.

But now wasn't the time for doubts or hesitation, something was going to arrive, something bad, he had to focus on that instead. Almost immediately a large blue head broke through the whirlpool, slowly drawing his ship in close.

A colossal sea serpent had emerged from the water, accompanying it was a vast array of calamities ranging from storms to tsunamis. Its blue scales blended in the water as its body wrapped itself around the sea.

Its grey stormy eye seemed to avoid them completely as its other clear blue eye darted between them. The serpent's colossal figure lit up with luminescent blue spots, mostly concentrated in its throat.

Casper's body whispered to him to run, something was coming, he could feel it. His eyes wandered to the serpent's throat which tightened as its skin heated up inside. It was going to breathe fire, Casper couldn't explain how he knew it but he did.

"Turn to port!" He yelled at his stunned crew, their eyes snapped as they started turning the ships, waking up from their stupor. They tried to distance themselves away from the sea serpent, as they tried to row further away but it was in vain.

The Leviathan was too large to avoid, its speed was completely incomprehensible as its titanic size should hinder it but it was the opposite as he advanced towar6 them with frightening speed.

Casper unconsciously sucked a cold breath, his hands clenched his axe as he pulled his shoulder back. With a surprising move he threw his axe towards the sea serpent, and instantly teleported towards it. This was one part of the axe's enchantment; it was quite fantastic he had to admit.

The person he occupied was truly wealthy, having a special enchantment was rare and priceless. But he didn't know if it could match the serpent's abilities.

Casper gripped his axe tightly and reinforced it with his own essence, his eyes wandered towards the Leviathans scale as he directed his axe towards the edge of it, he hoped to chip the scale off completely allowing for an attack on its bare skin.

But instead of hearing the sound of its scale being chipped off as Casper expected. The axe rebounded from it as he was launched into the sky from the recoil.

The serpent casually smiled seeing his assault before he turned his attention onto the array of ships below and launched a terrifying attack. Casper's eyes widened with surprise and horror as he saw it, it wasn't fire as he expected nor water but plasma.

The attack tore through the air and caused the water to steam, a ripple spread out in the vast sea, capsizing a few boats. Shockwaves travelled rapidly into the water, as the serpent's breath tore through his ships.

"..."

Casper thought he would see the wreckage of all his ships and complete decimation of his army, as their bodies littered the vast sea. But no, that wasn't the case!

Somehow the ships were all fine, the only real damage being the steam rising in the air. The sea serpent tilted his head as he looked at the scene with amusement.

His body which seemed absolutely crystal clear started writhing around the ships, Casper already figured out what he was up to, he wanted to flatten all the ships by squeezing his body.

Casper quickly moved towards the serpent's location as he tried to stop his movements, his face grew red with anger as he once again reinforced his weapon, but this time with more essence than before.

Casper launched his attack, instead of bouncing on his scales like before, Casper was able to hold on for a few moments. Sparks of fire flew from his scales, as a shallow wound appeared on his skin.

Casper smiled, he could hurt the abomination. It wasn't untouchable, but in the next moment he realised his mistake. It was too late, however

The Leviathan's tail arose from the ocean and assaulted his chest with tremendous force. The impact made him fly off towards the ocean as his Ascended Armour shattered completely.
