Chapter 4 - CHAPTER 4

Immediately the SIM card received a network connection, Megan's phone lit up in her hand.

Then, without warning buzz, buzz, buzz bank alerts started coming in, one after the other, like a rainstorm.

[One hundred million dollars.]

[Five hundred million dollars.]

[Six hundred million dollars.]

[One billion dollars.]

Her eyes were calm. The screen was glowing nonstop as her phone continued to vibrate, the numbers getting crazier with each new alert.

Megan stood there, just busy staring at the numerous alerts that were entering all at once. Her hand trembled slightly. The amount of money showing on her screen wasn't small it was enough to make anyone faint. But she didn't faint. She just kept staring. Her lips slowly parted as her eyes followed each zero on the screen like it was spelling out her new beginning.

She didn't even blink.

Then, at that moment, right in the middle of all the buzzing and bank messages, a new message popped up.

It didn't come from the bank. It looked different.

It came with a red urgent symbol.

And it carried weight.

Seeing the urgency of the message, Megan decided to click on it. She swiped the alerts aside for a second, not caring how much was still flowing in. Something about that message disturbed her more than the money.

And then—she saw the name.

Oliver.

Megan's brows lifted.

Oliver was one of the if not the biggest investor in Kelly's company. He was one of the powerful names in the business world, a man Kelly respected deeply, someone Kelly couldn't afford to offend.

The message was clear.

[Lady Megan, I know you're coming out of prison today, please do me the honor to have dinner, with me

I want to show you my loyalty truly stands with you.]

Oliver's message would then continue, the next part coming in right under his first words calm, respectful, but carrying power in every line.

[If Lady Megan naturally agrees to the dinner, then one of my close friends, Kai, will also be joining us. It would be a great honor for both of us if you, Lady Megan, would allow us to host you tonight.]

Kai is not just any doctor—he's a world-class home doctor. Renowned not only in this country, but across the globe.People know him for his genius mind and quiet strength.

The message ended there, short and sharp, but respectful. There were no extra words. No force. Just an invitation, sent with weight.

At that moment, when Megan saw the full message on her phone, she stood still for a moment. The phone rested in her palm, but her mind drifted far.

She never truly wanted to honor the invitation.

After everything that happened today after the humiliation, the betrayal, the cold faces of the Bushman family dinner with anyone wasn't something she cared about.

Her heart was heavy. Her mind was sharp. And she was still angry.

But then again… she thought about who had sent the message.

Oliver, one of the biggest if not the biggest investors in Kelly's company. A man with more control behind the scenes than most people even knew.

Megan slowly let out a breath. She stared at the message again.

And just like that, she decided, she would give him the honor, she would go to that dinner.

Immediately, Megan then type back.

[OK.]

That was all she sent, no long words. Just OK—short, cold, and direct.

She locked her screen, and within seconds, another notification popped up. It was the location for the dinner.

The place… it was unfamiliar. She had never been there before. A quiet corner of the city, hidden and private. It didn't matter, though. Even if she didn't know the area, she would find her way. She had made it through five years of hell.

At that moment, as Megan stood quietly under the soft evening sky, her mind began to drift again.

She wasn't quite feeling herself. Everything felt strange. Too quiet. Too smooth.

It had been five long years in prison. And during those five years, Megan met all kinds of people people the outside world would never believe were allowed inside prison, just to come seek for help. Rich people. Famous names. Secret powerhouses.

That was how she met Oliver.

He wasn't a rich investor when they met—not on the outside, at least. He was just another man inside that came inside the walls, sick and barely breathing. He had come down with a strange illness, something even the doctors couldn't understand. His condition was bad. Everyone thought he wouldn't make it.

But Megan had stepped in.

She helped him.

She stayed up some nights just watching over him, waiting for him to open his eyes. She did it quietly. No reward. No expectations.

And slowly, he got better, that was how they became acquainted. He never forgot.

To her, Oliver had been a broken man she wanted to help.

To Oliver, she was the one person who gave him another chance at life. But back then, he was just a subordinate. He wasn't the man he is now.

And it wasn't just Oliver, there were more. Many more.

All those alerts that had entered into Megan's phone earlier those hundreds of millions, the billions they weren't charity. They weren't pity.

They were tokens of appreciation. Gratitude from people she had helped inside that forgotten world.

People the world didn't know she touched.

People who now walked free, powerful, thankful.

And just wanting to deal with Kelly a little bit just wanting to send a small signal to remind him that he was a nobody Megan had accepted Oliver's invitation.

She wanted Kelly to feel it.

She wanted him to realize that she could easily crush him if she wanted to. That even though he stood there today thinking he had everything, it could all slip away before he even blinked. She had decided to give him a little taste. Just a little pressure. Just a little reminder of who he had thrown away.

That was even the main reason she accepted Oliver's invitation.

At that moment, Megan raised her hand and flagged down a taxi by the roadside. Her eyes were calm, but sharp. Her mind was focused. She gave the driver the location Everything Luxury and stepped inside the backseat.

The ride wasn't long, but it felt quiet. Megan looked out the window, thinking about all she had been through. All she had survived. And how strange it was, coming back to a world that kept on changing while she was locked away.

Not long after, the car pulled up in front of the destination.

She didn't even need to step out yet she could already feel it from inside the taxi.

Everything Luxury.

As soon as she stepped out, Megan tilted her head up and looked at the building.

Immediately, she could tell that the place looked so damn expensive.

Even before she went to prison, she had seen wealth fine places, beautiful halls, luxurious hotels but this was different. This wasn't just luxury. This was power.

The building was tall and shining. The glass doors were spotless. The white marble floors reflected the lights like water. Golden lights glowed across the entrance, not too bright, but calm and rich.

Everything felt new to her. Almost unreal.

The gentle scent of imported flowers filled the air. The valet boys stood at the gate in perfectly ironed uniforms, whispering politely to guests.

It was overwhelming, but Megan didn't flinch.

She fixed her dress, held her old phone tightly in her palm, and stepped forward with quiet confidence.

At that moment, one of the attendants standing by the glass door noticed her immediately. His eyes lit up slightly, then he quickly nodded toward another staff member. Without needing any words, they knew exactly who she was.

Oliver had already described Megan to them, they had been waiting for her.

And now, she had arrived.
