Chapter 32
As I moved down the hallway, I noticed a faint glimmer of light coming from a half-closed door. I had noticed the door before when I entered the place earlier when I was handcuffed and helpless. I felt something drawing me toward it, an invisible force pushing me into the unknown. I crept toward the room quietly, like a shadow in the dark, making hardly a sound, and began to peek inside.
I heard voices from inside. A malicious laugh, then the sound of something being pulled, a heavy sound indicating human movement.
I stretched my head to see who was inside.
The huge man! He hadn't left yet!
I froze at the edge of the door and peeked through the small crack.
The huge man sat behind a metal desk, buried in piles of scattered papers.
He seemed to be examining something in his hand, a strange-looking object. When I focused my eyes, the blood froze in my veins.
My foot! My severed foot!
He was rubbing it with a dirty smile on his face as if it were a precious treasure he had found after a long wait.
Anger flared inside me, a fire that wanted to burn him alive.
This bastard! It wasn't enough that he tore my body apart, now he was touching my severed foot as if it were his lost wife or lost lover. I wouldn't let him get away with it!
I scanned the room quietly, using some of my magic to search for an opportunity. I thought of a way to defeat him.
I looked for a weapon to use, something to cut his throat with, but I couldn't find anything. The room seemed empty, with nothing but my severed feet and empty tubes next to the huge man sitting at the desk. My hopes were dashed for a moment, but I didn't give up.
I quietly backed away to the room where I had been before and looked for something I could use.
Luckily, I found the tube they had used on me. That tube with the sharp insect tooth, the tooth of death that had almost killed me so tenderly and comfortably, but had failed.
It seemed to still be usable, and I would put it to good use. This time, it would be my weapon.
"I'll show you what I'll do to you for daring to caress my severed foot!"
I muttered to myself as I gripped the pipe tightly, my fist trembling with rage. I retraced my steps toward the room where the huge man was sitting, my heart pounding, or rather, my now tiny heart.
But when I looked through the crack in the door, he wasn't there! The huge man wasn't inside! I was suddenly overcome with panic. For a second, I thought I had been discovered. I quickly looked around, my eyes scanning every corner until I heard a faint sound, the sound of water hitting the hard floor.
"He's in the bathroom!"
I smiled a sly, cold smile. I crept into the room, my steps as light as a shadow sneaking through the darkness, barely making a sound.
