Chapter 37 - A Fierce Battle

Chapter 37

"Okay, let's all calm down."

I said hoarsely, pretending to be calm:

"What's done is done. Now, what's the plan? How are we going to present these pieces?"

I deliberately emphasized the word "pieces" with a slight sarcasm that I didn't think they would notice.

Kayyan, who was relieved by my sudden cooperation, nodded:

"We'll gather what's left of his body in a box and say we found him like this after a fierce battle with an creature. We'll insist we tried to save him but failed."

"A fierce battle?"

I asked sarcastically.

"With flies?"

Drax gritted his teeth in anger, but Kayyan raised his hand to stop him:

"This is no time for sarcasm, Thayron. This is serious. Everyone's lives are at stake."

I felt a chill run through my veins.

Everyone's lives? I repeated his words in my mind, thinking about the strange situation I had gotten myself into.

The fourth man spoke, his voice sounding more urgent this time:

"He's not joking. This client is ruthless. Many people who couldn't deliver what he wanted have disappeared."

I pretended to be concerned and said,

"So, what's the next step? When will this client arrive?"

Kayyan looked at the fourth man, then back at me:

"We don't know. We sent a notification that the sample would arrive a few days ago, and that's all."

He looked a little nervous:

"We'll prepare the box now. We have to be ready."

They all moved to prepare the box, leaving me a moment to gather my thoughts.

They didn't know. That meant I might have to wait a long time, but sooner or later my deception would be exposed.

All I knew so far was that the name of the huge man I had become was Thayron. Perhaps the fourth man had begun to suspect my actions, so he remained silent for most of the conversation.

Perhaps this mysterious agent, who terrifies these men, is the key to understanding everything.

Maybe he'll give me the answers I'm looking for, or maybe an interesting end for me. Either way, I have to be prepared for it.

Days passed as we waited for this agent. I tried to escape several times for various reasons but to no avail. I faced a constant obstacle: I needed the key to open the door. The key I had lost earlier when I lost consciousness.

I stole it while they were tying me to the chair, and the other key was with the man, so I decided to leave it for a while.

Time passed, and with every passing minute, my curiosity and anxiety grew. I wasn't afraid of death, but I was afraid of missing the chance to understand what was happening to me. I wandered around the room, feeling my new body, and testing its strength.

At that moment, I noticed something out of the corner of my eye. My severed foot... was disappearing!
