Only if she had a chance to take it off, she would cower at the corner, because right now the sound of the man who was being tortured in the basement echoed throughout this small house.
The sound of it alone was very terrifying, it could send chill down your spine, let alone to see them directly.
The house was not big, but there was a secret basement down there that was more spacious than this house.
Actually, this place was still under construction, that was why you could still hear the howling sound from the basement. Jaxon just found this place three months ago and started using it recently.
Thankfully, after two hours Jaxon returned. He changed his clothes, Fenja noticed that, but she couldn't smell the blood came from him,
"Let's go," Jaxon said, he took Fenja's hand again.
Fenja immediately stood up, eager to go out of this place and took off her headphones.
"Could I take it off?" She asked, but Jaxon opened the car door and gestured for her to get inside, once she was there and Jaxon had started the engine, only then he took off the headphones from her head.
"I feel like dying…"
Fenja covered her ears and frowned at the headphones, as if she was going to destroy that thing, but her intention was limited to her imagination only.
"Where do you want to eat?" Jaxon asked. He drove them back to the main road, he glanced at Fenja, but it seemed, she was still blissfully ignorance.
If you were a shifter, you would be able to catch this faint scent, especially in this enclosed space and with this proximity, since Jaxon wouldn't be able to completely get rid of the stench, but from the look of it, Sam was right.
Fenja indeed lost her ability as a shifter, some characteristic of her shifter side had deteriorated since her wolf spirit died, but the funny part was; Jaxon still could sense her wolf even though it was very faint.
But it was not all the time, because sometime, he couldn't feel it at all, it could be his imagination.
"I don't know."
"Is there a place that you wanted to visit?"
"Not really."
Jaxon glanced at her. "What places have you visited since you have been here?"
Fenja grimaced. "I have never been anywhere. Places that I have visited were the houses that I have to clean. If I didn't work, I will stay in my apartment, I don't have money to go anywhere."
This was pretty embarrassing, but she didn't mind to talk about this, not because she wanted him to pity her situation, but because that was the truth.
"Oh! But, there is this one place that I wanted to visit, can we go there?" Fenja saw this place in the television, it looked very fun with a few attractions, but she didn't know what this place was called. "I forgot the name of this place."
"Amusement park?"
"Ah, yes! Bearnie amusement park!" Fenja remembered that.
Hearing the name of the place, Jaxon narrowed his eyes. He didn't think he wanted to go to an amusement park. He didn't want to go when he was little, let alone now.
"Can we go there?"
An hour later, he was standing on the line, buying tickets for the two of them. This was ridiculous. He had never been in an amusement park before and didn't have any plan to visit one.
But, here he was…
This was beyond ridiculous…
Yet when Jaxon saw the look on her expression and how her face was beaming with happiness, he couldn't help it.
Initially Jaxon didn't care to know, but then he learned she had sweet teeth, where she would buy a few candies and chocolate as they roamed inside the amusement park.
"I don't like sweet thing," Jaxon said when Fenja offered her candy bar to him
"Weird," Fenja muttered under her breath, thinking Jaxon couldn't hear her.
She tried the first attraction, which was a roller coaster and she liked it. She couldn't stop talking and dragging Jaxon to try another attraction.
"How did you lose your wolf spirit?" Jaxon asked when they took a break ad Fenja bought ice cream for herself.
Fenja tilted her head to look at him, she chose her word carefully and when Jaxon didn't drop the topic, she simply said that she was having a problem back then.
"Something happened, it escalated quickly." She was being vogue here.
That was all. That couldn't be counted as an explanation, but Jaxon didn't push further when he saw how reluctance she was to answer him.
"I thought you are famous, but why no one recognized you?" Fenja was sure this man beside her was a very famous businessman, she checked him online and many people talked about him, but then no one recognized him here in public area, how could that happen?
"Because no one would have thought I will be in this kind of place," Jaxon replied simply, especially without any bodyguards.
Even when there were a lot of women, who would turn around and check on him for the second or the third time, it didn't click in their mind that it was Jaxon Brian Thorne, the young businessman.
"Oh, that makes sense."
After that, Fenja played more attraction, while Jaxon chose to stay in one of the caffe there and waited until she was done to try all the attraction.
Somehow, he felt like he was babysitting a ten years old girl, because Fenja acted like one. She tried more extreme attraction and somehow loved it.
"Don't you scare?" Jaxon asked after he saw her returned from the roller coaster… again.
"My life is scariest than that roller coaster!" She said, but she changed the subject. "Let's go home, I think it's too late already," she said sheepishly. "Thank you for taking me here. I am so happy!"
Jaxon said nothing and then stood up, he took her hand as they walked away.
