"You mean that annual meeting?" All of the shifter knew about this meeting.
"Yes."
"Oh." Fenja gulped down uncomfortably.
"You will come with me." This one was a statement, he only informed her about this, not to ask whether or not she wanted to come with him. "I will send a dress for you to wear for that event."
"What if you ditched me again?"
"My gamma and beta will be there, even if I ditched you, you will be fine with them."
Fenja didn't think that was a reassurance, but she didn't bother with the explanation, because it was not the real reason she felt unease.
She finished her lamb chop and because she paid for this meal, she was going to eat it to the last bite.
After they finished with their dinner, Fenja was true to her word and pay for their meal, but her heart was bleeding when she saw the nominal, even so, she kept it cool on the surface.
That number was so long, she felt like she had wasted two months of her usual budgeting only for a single dinner.
"Thank you for the meal," Jaxon said, as they drove away to return to the pack house.
"Ah, oh, yes…" Fenja was still thinking about the expensive lamb chop.
Once they arrived at the pack house, Fenja went to her bedroom and thank the alpha for today, she met with Jack and briefly told him about her day. She was still happy because she went to the amusement park.
The next day, when Fenja woke up and checked her bank account, she was shocked, because the number was more than she had before the dinner.
"How can this be possible?"
In fact, the number on her account was triple the amount that she had before she paid the dinner last night.
Fenja was flabbergasted. She was still in her pajamas when she went out of her room and found Jaxon jogged in the garden. This was his morning routine.
She approached him and jogged beside him, while still in her pajamas, which surprised Jaxon, because it was very obvious that she just woke up.
"Did you just send me money?" Fenja asked, panting beside him, it was less than a minute she ran but she was already tired.
"Yes." Jaxon didn't seem to break a sweat at all, but he didn't slow down his pace, he wanted to see, how far Fenja would follow him.
"Are you sure you didn't hit too many zero when you sent me the money?"
"No."
Fenja pulled her phone up and showed the nominal in her account. "This is triple the money I have. Are you sure you don't want me to send the money back to you?" Fenja wanted to make sure Jaxon wouldn't regret it later.
"I am sure."
This would be very absurd if Jaxon even wanted the money back from her. He didn't think the number was a big of deal.
"Really?" This time, Fenja was having a hard time to breath, she slowed down a bit.
"Hm." Jaxon picked up his pace and Fenja gave up.
She was sweating now, but happy enough to have more money on her bank account. She smiled to herself and after she felt she could breathe a little bit better, she went to her bedroom to clean herself up. She was going to prepare breakfast.
However, this little thing became Jaxon's attention, because he could see how weak Fenja's constitution was.
Not only she couldn't keep up with him, but she was already tired by only running for such short period of time.
Sam said there was still remaining poison inside her body and he wondered if that was the reason of her weak condition.
He stared at her retreating back. That woman was literally bouncing back to the pack house.
Jaxon was going to have Sam to check on her more thoroughly.
On the other hand, Fenja was being exceptionally generous with the breakfast, it looked more like a full set meal instead of a breakfast.
"Good morning!" Fenja greeted Jack with a bright smile.
"Good morning," Jack greeted her with a smile too. "I can see that you look very happy this morning." He noted.
Fenja then told him what happened and the reason why she was so happy today. It was a good sign to have a lot of money on your bank account when you just woke up.
"Not everyone will wake up with their money has tripled in number overnight!" Fenja said cheerfully.
"I am happy for you," Jack said. He nodded. He liked this woman.
Before her, this house was very dull and quiet, as if this place was a cemetery instead of a pack house, but now, it was very different, she was so alive and she made this fancy building felt like home.
"Do you want me to help you?" Jack offered.
"No, but I would love to have you to have breakfast with us," Fenja said, but once again, Jack had to refuse that, because it was not appropriate for him to be on the same table as the two of them.
With that, Fenja dropped the topic.
Today went uneventfully, Fenja cleaned a few rooms and then went to the greenhouse, there were a few flowers that needed to be trimmed.
She knew a thing or two about plants and flowers and determined to make this greenhouse looked nicer.
She finally felt very happy and forgot about her past misery. For the first time, she forgot about Shayne and Nadia or their betrayal.
She couldn't care less about the two of them, as they could have each other.
They deserved it.
She didn't need to think about the former luna Rachel and her sharp tongue. For the first time also, she forgot about her wolfless self.
Life was going better for her, until she remembered about the annual meeting of the alphas.
The last thing she wanted was to meet him…
