Chapter 8 - RED MOON PACK

This house was so big that, at the very least, she would need a month to clean the entire place! There was no way she could finish it in a day!

Right now, Fenja was standing in front of the tallest and biggest gate she had ever seen in her entire life, and she felt very intimidated.

"Where is the bell?" She looked around, and it took her ten minutes to find it.

"Who is there?" A man's voice asked from the intercom. Fenja introduced herself, and the gate was opened for her. "You need to walk for fifteen minutes to reach the main house; I will see you there.

"Fifteen minutes?" Fenja mumbled to herself.

She would reach the main house in less than fifteen minutes if she ran in her wolf form. Unfortunately, she didn't have her anymore.

Fenja was still grieving for the loss of her wolf spirit.

But one thing she learned was that in a big city like this, there would be many CCTVs to catch the shifters when they shifted into their beasts, and it had been engraved in every shifter's mind to conceal their identity from humans.

It took Fenja a while to reach the main house. And when she finally arrived there, a sturdy black door greeted her with five steps to get to the terrace of the house.

There, Fenja saw a man in a neat black suit greet her. He looked disapproving, as if he didn't like her tardiness.

"You are late," he stated the fact. "I said fifteen minutes."

"The main house is too far from the gate," Fenja replied; she was slightly annoyed. This house was very big. Dan said nothing about this. She would protest later.

The other man squinted his eyes at Fenja, observing her.

But what came out of his mouth later shocked Fenja.

"You can shift into your beast and get here faster."

That was right. This man before her was a werewolf too; Fenja didn't notice immediately until he made that comment.

If he were a shifter, it would mean the owner of the house was most likely a shifter too.

"Oh… I don't know that the owner is a shifter." Fenja gave him a lame excuse. "And I can't shift anymore," she added.

He appeared to be in his late forties, a bit older than Dan; his hair had turned grey, and there were a few wrinkles at the corners of his eyes and mouth. Even so, he still looked like someone who was able to take down three wolves.

"Follow me." He turned around. "Don't make a noise."

Fenja frowned, but she didn't say anything. This man didn't even tell her his name.

Suddenly, Fenja felt this chill run down her spine; her instinct told her not to come. She felt like prey entering a predator's den.

Fenja turned around and looked at her surroundings, but she couldn't find anything. She tried to sniff the air, thinking there was someone else here aside from this old man. But except for the smell of coffee that came from him, she only smelled cigar and cinnamon scents faintly.

When she lost her wolf spirit, she also lost her healing ability and was unable to shift into her beast, but everything else was fine if you didn't count this bereft feeling in her heart.

"You only need to clean up this floor." The old man stopped in front of a circular staircase.

"Okay." Fenja looked up and noticed there were the second and third floors. She was elated nonetheless; it was manageable because she didn't need to clean up the entire house, which looked like a castle.

"For now." He nodded.

"Oh." Fenja's mood took a nosedive.

"Be sure not to make a noise."

That was all he said before he turned around to leave. But before leaving, he stopped and glanced at her over his shoulder.

"Do you know what place this is?"

Fenja shook her head. She didn't have any idea, which made the old man frown.

"What pack did you come from?"

Fenja was a little bit hesitant. "The Silver Moon Pack," she finally replied.

The man nodded. "This is the pack house of the Red Moon Pack," he informed her. "At the very least, you should know that."

***

That man said here was the pack house of the Red Moon Pack, which meant this was the territory of Alpha Jaxon.

Fenja didn't know much about Alpha Jaxon, but one thing was for sure: out of the seven packs, the Red Moon Pack was the richest, and no one wanted to mess with this pack.

Not only the richest, Alpha Jaxon was also a successful businessman in the human world. His figure was well-known in both human and shifter worlds.

However, there was no personal information about him, aside from what people had already known. He didn't engage with the other alphas if it was not necessary.

"This place is so big…" Fenja muttered to herself as she looked around her and started cleaning. "It doesn't feel like a pack house at all."

Back in the Silver Moon Pack, the pack house would be crowded with a lot of people; most of the pack members would come to have their meal together in the dining hall; everyone knew everyone.

But here, Fenja didn't think Alpha Jaxon would know all of his pack members. This house felt more like a haunted house than a pack house. She didn't see anyone thus far.

Obviously, with a pack this big, they wouldn't have a meal together with all the pack members.

However, Fenja was not here to judge.

It took Fenja three hours to clean up the first room, which was a big study room where there were a lot of paintings that were put at the back. This room had a beautiful view of a pool.

And the second room was a bedroom.

Fenja was surprised; she thought this bedroom might belong to the alpha, as this one was obviously the master bedroom, but there was something odd about this room.
