A loud clap of thunder crashed outside, making Rachel flinch. She honestly wished the lightning would just strike her dead on the spot.
"No way," Rachel said firmly without even thinking. She wanted that shameless man as far away from her as possible.
If she became his driver, she would even open the door for him!
No one ever dared talk to Kellan like that.
Being offered a favor from him was something people begged for. But this woman?
His cold, dark face twisted into a wicked smile. "Oh? Then how are you planning to pay me back? With your body?"
He took a big step forward, wrapped one arm around her waist, and pushed her against the desk.
He leaned down and licked her lips.
Rachel's eyes widened in pure shock. Without thinking, she raised her hand to slap him.
This guy was seriously the most shameless person she had ever met!
But Kellan caught her soft wrist mid-air, his eyebrows raised and his smile becoming even more devilish. "Let's discuss compensation after I've had my fill," he said. "I should at least collect some interest first."
"Kellan!" Rachel yelled, furious.
This was going too far.
"Hm?" Kellan smirked, his phoenix eyes narrowing with amusement. He leaned closer, his warm breath brushing against her skin. "What are you so shy about? You're already a mom. You should be used to this kind of thing."
His breath tickled her face. His teasing words made her cheeks instantly flush red, but this time from rage. Her expression twisted, and she gritted her teeth so hard it hurt.
"Spit." Rachel spat right in his face.
That perfect, gorgeous face that had attracted so many rich socialites, now stained with her spit.
Even Rachel was a little stunned she actually did it.
Kellan's face instantly turned black. His expression darkened as his sharp eyes bore into her like knives.
The look on Rachel's face didn't even try to hide her disgust. That insult hit his pride hard. So many women tried to throw themselves into his arms, and she… spat at him?
She had already crossed his line way too many times. For some reason, the more she resisted, the more he wanted to break her. He really wanted to see her beg him for mercy.
He slowly let go of her and casually wiped his face with a tissue.
Rachel immediately jumped away like he was a plague and kept a safe distance, looking like she was about to puke.
Kellan's face was filled with killing intent, but he didn't get mad. Instead, he smiled coldly. "Fine. If this doesn't work, let's let the police handle it."
His voice was calm, but cruel. It carried a creepy kind of calm, like he could destroy someone without blinking.
Call the police?!
Rachel's heart dropped to her stomach. She thought of how the police had treated him yesterday, bowing like he was royalty.
Even if she told the truth, no one would believe her.
Her face went pale and her legs went weak. She leaned against the wall, almost collapsing from the fear.
What would happen to Cora if she went to jail?
"Fine, I'll do it!" Rachel finally snapped, gritting her teeth so hard her gums hurt.
Her expression was full of hatred. If her glare could kill, Kellan would've been shredded into dust.
Seriously, how could someone be this horrible? He was a monster.
Meanwhile, Stella was still waiting by the elevator, hoping to see Rachel come out in tears after being scolded by the CEO.
Her face was all perfect makeup on the outside, but full of jealousy underneath.
But then she saw Rachel walk out, not crying, but looking totally drained and empty like a ghost. Her soul was gone.
Stella immediately put on a fake smile and ran up to Rachel like a best friend. "Rachel, why did you take so long? I've been waiting for you forever."
"What were you guys talking about in there?" she asked, trying to sound casual but definitely fishing for gossip.
She looked so fake, like someone who had just tried to ruin your life and then acted like nothing happened.
Rachel could barely breathe from how angry she still felt. She needed to vent.
"He's just here to collect a debt," Rachel said in a low voice.
Yeah. That had to be it. She must've owed him something in a past life, and now he came to collect it in this one.
Collecting a debt?
Stella's heart skipped a beat. She immediately let go of Rachel's hand, panicked. If the CEO misunderstood and thought she was also close to Rachel, would he think she owed something too?
But at the same time, Stella felt kinda happy inside. That was perfect.
There was no way the CEO would actually be interested in a single mom who cleaned bathrooms for a living. She was definitely better than Rachel in every way.
Rachel returned to the café right after, and handed in her resignation to the manager on the spot.
That disgusting man said she had to be on duty tomorrow, and there was no way she'd let herself be at his mercy like that.
