Chapter 23 - A Set of Clothes Costs 500,000

"Get out, get out, get out right now..." Stella was actually so scared she wet herself.

The man's tall, straight figure gave off a bone-chilling coldness, and his dark, deep eyes were like bottomless icy lakes that could swallow someone whole.

Stella was completely terrified. She collapsed to the ground, her mind blank.

She wanted to leave, but her limbs were too weak to move. This CEO was honestly way too scary.

Every single time he saw her, he told her to get lost.

"Denise, come in," Kellan said in a low, cold voice.

Denise had already been standing outside but didn't dare come in, because she could tell their CEO was really, really mad.

"Take this thing out of my sight," he ordered, his voice like ice. "Why do idiots like you let anyone in?"

"Yes!" Denise didn't hesitate and immediately called two security guards to drag Stella out.

She was scared she'd get caught in the crossfire if she waited even a second longer.

He had totally guessed Rachel would be the one delivering coffee right about now.

But instead, he saw some heavy makeup-wearing, fake-smiling, gross woman with obvious motives.

It completely ruined his mood.

That woman said she'd return his clothes today. Was she really gonna flake again?

If she dared to stand him up... she better be ready to pay the price.

Meanwhile, downstairs, Rachel had no clue what just happened. She chatted with Faith for a bit and realized Stella had already gone up without her.

What was she rushing for?

Rachel sighed, picked up the rest of the coffee, over a dozen cups, and followed upstairs.

She didn't want to deliver fewer than ordered.

"Are you trying to get yourself killed? You actually barged into the CEO's office without permission!" Denise was furious. The CEO was so angry, everyone's job might be in danger now.

As soon as Rachel stepped off the elevator, she saw a crowd of secretaries and security guards surrounding someone and yelling.

Stella, who had sort of calmed down by now, noticed Rachel walk in from the corner of her eye.

Her eyes narrowed, filling with fake tears.

She suddenly pointed toward the elevator and shouted, "It was her! She told me to bring the coffee to the CEO first. I didn't see anyone at the front desk, so I just walked in. I didn't mean to!"

"Wuwuwu..." Her soft, pitiful act looked pretty convincing, and some of the guards almost believed her.

Everyone turned toward the elevator, looking at Rachel, who stood there completely confused.

What the heck? When did she tell her that?

Stella was obviously the one trying to rush up and seduce the man, and now she got kicked out and blamed her for it?

Rachel was stunned. She pressed her lips together and quietly said, "It wasn't me."

"Miss Allen, I believe you." Denise saw it was Rachel and immediately gave her a warm smile. Then she bowed politely and said, "The CEO is waiting for you. Please go in."

This woman might actually be their savior.

The CEO had been waiting for her for a long time and had told them clearly: let her in as soon as she comes.

That had never happened before.

Rachel felt a strange warmth in her chest. She didn't even have to explain, Denise just believed her right away.

"Thank you," Rachel said with a grateful smile. Her clear apricot eyes sparkled like the prettiest gems.

She set the tray of coffee on the front desk, picked up the clothes, and walked straight toward the CEO's office.

It felt like a joke.

Stella watched Rachel go into Kellan's office and was totally losing it inside. How was it possible?

Why her?

Why not me?

She was just a janitor. A single mom.

And somehow she got to walk into the CEO's office without getting yelled at, while I keep getting thrown out?

She couldn't stand it.

But deep down, Stella felt a weird kind of relief. At least now Rachel was going to get the same terrifying experience she just had.

As soon as Rachel stepped into the office, her heart started pounding like crazy.

She still hadn't forgotten how he kissed her so forcefully two days ago.

And last night... he actually said that if she didn't return the clothes, he'd continue where they left off.

That thought alone was enough to make her shiver.
