Elián;
The door slowly creaks open, and I pause when Alana silently slips into the room…
She forces a smile that doesn't reach her eyes. The kind of smile babysitters give annoying children while deciding which to choose between life imprisonment and a little more patience.
"You're awake…" She speaks as she moves forward, and I take a deep breath before readying myself to apologise, but to my surprise she suddenly drops to her knees with her hands clasped tightly in front of her.
"Please, Master Elian… I do not mean any insult, or to be rude… But please… can you please ask the Alpha's for another maid…" She begs with her eyes shut tight as fearful desperation flood her voice.
What?!
"I… You… You have way too much energy for me to keep up with or… Or manage. I… We… I think another maid would be a better fit than me…" She continues, and my jaw drops. Leaving my mouth hanging wide as I stare at her.
Is this woman seriously trying to ditch me with the excuse that I'm too troublesome?!
"Are you calling me troublesome!?" I demand in astonishment, and her eyes fly open like I just spoke an abomination.
"No! Never! I would never dare to say something so atrocious. I just…" She begins, but I cut her off in annoyance as I fold my arms over my chest.
"You just what? Think I'm going to raise your blood pressure through the roof and give you wrinkles before your time??" I retort, and she remains silent. Blinking at me with a look that agrees with what I just said.
"You…!!" I begin, but stop to catch my breath.
"No," I reply, and her eyes widen.
"No. I'm not getting another maid. I like you, and you'll continue to serve me." I add stubbornly before throwing my face away with my nose in the air, and she looks at me like I just sentenced her to a guillotine.
"But Master Elian…"
"No ifs and buts."
"What if you die??!" She suddenly cries in pure panic, and I turn to her with wide eyes.
"You're always trying to kill yourself when I'm around. I keep begging you not to do it, but you go ahead anyway. If anything happens to you, the Alphas will send me right after you. It's really not fair that I…" She continues, but stops abruptly.
She quickly cups her hands over her mouth as fear fills her eyes.
"I didn't mean that." She whispers in horror, and I just stare at her. Not offended by her words, but stunned by the sudden fear that's taken hold of her.
She quickly bows, pressing her head against the floor.
"Al…" I try to stop her, but her panicked, rushed voice cuts me off.
"I'm so sorry, Master Elian. I… I didn't mean what I just... Please forgive me. I have no right to speak to my Alphas Omega like that. I deserve to be punished. I… I'm sorry, Master…" She begins, and I've had enough.
"I'm not angry!" I scold, and she falls silent. "Just… get up. This is weird." I add, and she reluctantly stands up.
"First. Never bow to me again." I speak, and she gulps. She tries to say something, but I raise a finger to stop her.
"Let me finish."
She steps back. Fear and resignation are deeply etched into her face, and it only makes my guilt worse.
"I'm sorry." I apologise before looking away, and even though I'm not looking at her, I can already see the confusion on her face.
"You've been nice, and kind… and attentive to my needs ever since I got here." I continue, and this time I look up at her.
"But all I've brought you is trouble upon trouble. It was selfish of me… and I'm sorry. I know that my actions affect you directly and indirectly, and I will keep that in mind moving forward." I add, and silence falls on the room as her lips part slightly in dumbfoundment.
"I'm comfortable with you. I don't want another aide. Hopefully, we can be friends even. I'm just sorry I've made your life so difficult in the past… two days…" I conclude, and to my surprise, a small, almost happy smile splits her face as her ears slightly lift off her hair, which they were previously pressed against.
"Would you like fruits or something warm for lunch?" She questions, and although she didn't give a verbal reply to my apology, I know that she has just extended an olive branch and is proposing a fresh start.
I return her smile and give her my reply.
"Something warm would do," I reply, and she nods.
"Coming right up. Also, you'll be having dinner with the King and Alphas tonight. He demanded that you be prepared to meet him." She replies, and I freeze.
"Don't worry. I'll get you ready. And tell you the things you should and shouldn't say, or do in front of the king. The king is… very easy going. So this should be easy for you." She tries to assure me, but my heart is beating in overdrive now.
I'm meeting their father!?
I just decided to stay, and now I'm meeting their father?!
I thought the meeting was postponed!!
For fucks freaking sake, don't I get a break?!
I don't wanna do this!!
Oh, I'm going to lose my fucking mind!
"I…I'll go get your meal now. I'll be back soon." Alana says before slipping out of the room, and I'm left in silence.
Really… silence has never felt so loud.
My mind suddenly runs back to the lake, and I remember Elien.
That's right! I almost forgot.
He said he's here. Right in this body. We're experiencing all this together. So why can't I feel him?
Why did he only appear when I was on the verge of… Will I only get to see him when my life is in danger??
Ugh! What's the use of his existence if he can't help me!!
In the real world, the only king I ever knew was the one in England, and I never had to bother about meeting him. But now, all of a sudden, I have to meet a king of beast men?! That too after I promise Koda that I won't fuck up.
It hasn't even been 24 hours since I made that promise!
Yeah. My life is over.
Fucked
Screwed.
Done.
I'm just fucking done with this place and chaos already…
