I felt like I was floating around in the abyss for quite some time, at least that was until a light began to form before me. Something that lit up everything.
Blink. Blink. After blinking a couple of times and wiping his eyes, Yori realized he wasn't in the same world anymore. He was also not an adult anymore.
Upon looking down I noticed that my hands were tiny and I couldn't quite tell what was going on. The room around me looked very different from everything I've known, it was old and resembled a lot of architecture like I would see in that MMO game I played.
Was I dreaming? What happened to me, where even am I?
"I can't believe we got blessed with a boy Tom." A woman begins to say with excitement as she coddles him.
I'm a baby, but yet I could hear them clearly. I even have my memories from my world so what exactly is happening to me right now? There's too many questions and not enough answers for me.
"Chloe this isn't good at all. You know how they treat us, this child is going to be thrown into the same life as us." Tom Exclaims with concern.
My vision was finally fully clear and I could make out the faces of the two of them, they were dressed in ragged clothing but both were pretty well kept in their appearance otherwise.
These were my parents here, that much is clear. I'll need to learn about the world, my family, and even what I'm capable of doing.
Time was something that began to fly by for him as he started to grow up into the kid he is now. It's been 16 years since Yori was born into the world.
He was given a whole new name by his parents or at least they knew it as his name since he remembered his old one.
I've lived in this new world for most of my new life so far and honestly I don't know how to feel about it. They named me Artemis here and I haven't gotten used to my new name yet.
My father has been showing me the basics of survival while also trying to teach me how to fight. The only problem is that my family is enslaved.
Are free time is granted after we do everything that the people want us to do. The family that owns us seems to be pretty nice but I could be wrong.
But my mom and dad are in this situation because of the lands that were taken by the Queen known as Rayala. She didn't want to just kill the people here so instead she gave opportunities to her people to enslave us.
Sadly they aren't strong enough to stand up to anyone here, but they don't see a reason for it anyway. Magic is real here and that's what the family will use to keep us all in our place if needed.
Do heroes exist in this world? That's something I don't hear much about, so who could possibly stand up to anyone?
"Artemis get back to work." A guard instructs with a bit of an annoyed tone in his voice.
I didn't really give them many issues since I wasn't in the position to do so but I think things are going to change. I'm tired of this.
I've been a slave since I could actually move things around so the thought of freedom is something I think about often.
He gets back to working as a girl catches his attention, her crimson red hair that went past her shoulders was something he couldn't ignore, or maybe it was the red in her eyes that matched her hair that caught his attention.
The daughter of the family, Amelia. She was definitely dressed as a noble, very suiting for their family.
A girl like that has no reason to look my way, especially not when I'm just a slave who works away in their property. I move things around to clean up the courtyard area, I build some of the gates, and I even fight off some of the small monsters.
I'm nothing but a slave to the new world I was born into. At least my family loves me this time around.
"Artemis we've got to be careful. I heard the guards talking about something that's going on. Some sort of battle is happening." Dad says while working next to me.
Dad used to be a soldier who fought for the previous royal family but ended up here because of the results of the war. That's how I learned a bit about it but I don't know what good it'll do for me.
Footsteps could be heard approaching from behind them before Artemis feels a tap on his shoulder.
I turned away from Dad to see who was trying to get my attention and to my surprise it was Amelia. I didn't expect her to approach me all of a sudden but maybe they want something from me.
"Is there something you need from me?" I ask while kneeling before her.
I noticed her eyes all over me but she seemed to be looking for something or maybe she was trying to sense something.
"I want you to come with me. Artemis right? Come along now." She instructs while gesturing for me to stand.
He stands up and begins to follow behind her for a little while before they reach the main house. The guards seemed to be a bit confused but wouldn't question what the daughter is doing.
I've never been this close to the house so this was all new to me, I didn't really understand what was happening here. What did she want from me?
Her voice felt kind when she spoke before and she doesn't seem like a bad person, but we wouldn't be slaves if that was the case right?
Amelia led him to her room and took him inside without any issues. But as they entered her room she grabbed some things from her closet. One of the items appeared to be a book of some sort.
A softness in her voice could be heard as she started to speak. "I want you to make a pact with me, I want someone who can protect me at all times." Amelia speaks with a bit of concern in her voice.
I wonder if this is because of what Dad told me outside earlier. But she isn't forcing it up on me or anything so maybe it's something I get to choose.
