The coming days would be hard for me since I didn't know much about the world but we couldn't stay there any longer. We ended up leaving the estate and it took her a bit of time to collect whatever she wanted to take.
Everything was eating away at me while she packed, I couldn't help but think about how my parents were dead. There was no one here to save us, no one here to protect anyone.
The guards were no match with the guys who attacked us and it makes me wonder who the hell they hired. I would've expected them to kill some of these guys but they didn't even manage to kill one.
A nobody like me managed to kill one and yet I'm left with this pit in my gut.
"It'll be rough for awhile Artemis but I know a place to go for now." Amelia says with a bit of confidence in her voice.
Glad she's confident about where we are going now but I'm stuck wondering if this is all I'll ever be. Someone who's not capable of choosing his own path, is that how it's always going to be?
He sheathes his sword and looks ahead. "I'm glad you know a place. We should make haste." Artemis responds.
All the death I saw reminded me about what happened to me in my previous life, the accident. I wonder how Nicole is going to move forward with life, or if she'll blame herself for how things ended before she left.
Did my family even cry when I passed? Those questions still linger within my head everyday since I was reborn here.
A couple of days pass since the gruesome display at the estate. (Currently in the town of Suntiel.)
The two of them had managed to make their way to the town of Suntiel, it was the closest town to the estate, even if it was a few days worth of traveling. It was very well known for its trade and a lot of merchant's loved coming to this town.
It was filled with lots of beautiful architecture that was constructed by humans of the last era who passed long ago. They made great use of clay and turned it into lovely brick over time. Magic also helped with speeding up the process of acquiring the proper materials.
The people of the town also appeared to be a good mix of humans, elves, and even some dwarves. Most of the town was quite friendly but they weren't the most pleasant when it came down to slaves.
Amelia wasn't wrong about the place we reached known as Suntiel but I noticed quite a bit of people staring at me. I never really changed out of my clothes back at the estate so I was still wearing my normal clothes with the chains around me.
It was pretty obvious that I was a slave to the family so a lot of people must be against that or maybe they are against me. Again, I don't really know much about the world so these people could just be having an issue with me altogether.
Amelia shifted her attention towards Artemis without any hesitation and began to speak. "We need to get you new clothes. The chains might have to go too but let's find an outfit first." Amelia says while beginning to look for a store.
It didn't take her long to find us a clothing shop for me to get some new stuff to wear but even inside there I felt weird. The people knew something was off about me and I didn't realize it at the time but there was blood on my clothes too.
"This, try this on." Amelia suggests while handing a few articles of clothing to him.
"Yeah, give me a second." Artemis responds before going into a room to change.
She had given him a black pair of pants, a black shirt, and some sort of cloak to go with it all. It didn't take him very long to change into it but a smirk grew on his face as he noticed himself in the mirror.
I probably should remove the chains since it would give it away that I'm still a slave to her in some way. He tries to take them off but is immediately hit with a shockwave of pain.
"Gahh. Shit!" Artemis shouts in pain as he let's go of the chains.
Within a few seconds Amelia had busted through the door to see why he was shouting in pain. "Are you okay?!?" She asks with concern in her voice.
He just looks down at his hands before looking back up towards Amelia. "I'm okay. These chains won't be coming off though, sorry to say that." Artemis answers with a bit of disappointment.
"We'll just have to make do for the time being. I already paid for the outfit so let's get going, I don't want to be here too long." Amelia says with a bit of fear in her voice.
Something was bothering her here, I just didn't know exactly what it was yet so I'll have to keep an eye out as we continue to travel. I've got a feeling that she's concerned about the guys from the estate but I don't know if they'll look for us.
"Let's get going then. Finding a place to stay for the night would be smart though." Artemis suggests.
With that they ended up finding an inn to stay at for the night and got a room together with two beds. It was pretty clean inside the room and there was a nice balcony that looked over the town.
I didn't really stay in hotels or even motels in my previous life so this was kind of like that but not. It was about the size of a small apartment but the price wasn't too bad apparently.
At least that's what Amelia told me, again I don't know much about the currency. I'll probably have to ask her a bit about everything so I can have a better understanding of it all.
Mom told me about monsters and magic, but never much about how we could use money. Probably because she didn't think we'd ever get the chance to come out here again.
The world can be quite cruel I guess.
