Anastasia barely slept that night. Her mind was flooded with details, figures, names, files, and most especially, Alfonso Martinez.
She sat at her desk till dawn, double-checking every line of the project proposal, searching for any weak points.
By the time the first rays of sunlight slipped through the window, she was already out of bed.
She showered quickly, threw on a crisp blazer, tied her hair into a neat ponytail, and skipped breakfast. There was no time.
Today had to count.
She grabbed her keys, slung her bag over her shoulder, and headed straight for her car. As she drove, her thoughts raced even faster than the speedometer.
'Ihave to make a great start today. This isn't just about proving myself… it's about creating my escape route.'
Then, without warning, her mind drifted.
'Mason... Where was he yesterday after work? I didn't see him anywhere. Not even a glimpse of him in the house.'
