'Mason is only looking at me, but he hasn't asked for me to come...
I will go with the COO and see his reaction,' Anastasia thought, her heart pounding slightly faster as she caught Mason's gaze one last time.
She turned away.
Her heels echoed softly as she followed Nicholas toward his office. She could still feel Mason's eyes trailing her steps, watchful, unreadable.
'Why won't he say something? Anything?' she wondered.
'If he truly didn't care, why did he even bother stepping out at the same time? Or was it a coincidence?'
Behind her, Daniel looked between Mason and Nicholas, as if trying to decode the silent tension in the air.
Nicholas didn't speak until they reached his office. His pace was brisk, his mood unreadable. Once inside, he gestured toward the chair opposite his desk.
"Sit," he said sharply.
Anastasia obeyed without a word.
The door shut behind them, and silence sat heavy in the room.
