It was almost closing time, and the tension in the office had slowly started to die down.
The noise from keyboards softened, printers stopped buzzing, and people began packing up.
Anastasia sat at her desk, rubbing her temples. Her thoughts had been all over the place since she left Nicholas's office.
Nothing felt normal anymore, not even the silence.
Suddenly, she saw Sandra walking toward her desk with a weak smile. Anastasia looked up and frowned slightly. Sandra looked drained.
"You look very tired," Anastasia said with a small smile.
"Very tired," Sandra sighed and shook her head. "I've been working my ass out all day. Anastasia… can I have a word with you?"
Anastasia blinked, surprised by the seriousness in Sandra's tone. She nodded. "Of course."
The two women walked toward a quiet corner of the office near the break room.
"Anastasia," Sandra started, folding her arms. "I already told you, I've been here for about seven years. I've seen a lot. I've heard even more."
