As soon as Anastasia returned to her desk, she was puzzled by the silence. The once-busy office was now empty.
Only Sandra remained, seated at her desk, typing slowly.
Anastasia looked around, confused. "What happened? Where is everyone?" she asked, as she sat down on her chair.
Sandra looked up with a soft smile, "They've all gone to the department meeting. It's about the monthly goals… I waited for you."
"You waited for me?" Anastasia blinked, clearly surprised. "Was I supposed to be there?"
"Of course! You're part of this department. Everyone's presence is important," Sandra said, standing up. "Come on, we're already late."
They both headed toward the meeting room, walking down the hallway lined with glass doors and framed certificates. As they neared the door, Sandra suddenly slowed her pace and glanced sideways at Anastasia.
"Hey… why did the president call you earlier?" she asked in a low voice, concern written all over her face.
