Chapter 21 - Growth

8 months pass by like a flash.

During these 8 months Emma had nothing but growth, she mastered the language of this world, she could read advanced level books, and write beautifully. By now she understood many things about this world, and most importantly many tales.

Emma had also gotten her agony to rank two! She took another 10,000 steps out of the trillion there is. Now it had asked her at maximum 6 questions per day.

"Blagrh!" A monstrous Lost shouted in defeat.

Bang!

A dark blue large beast with naturally formed hammers for hands stuck it down, crushing a defeated beast.

The floor of the forest had looked like a bloody mess around that spot. She got use to it at some point. They were just monsters after all.

During this time Emma acquired a multitude of Lost forms, although it was rare for her to find special Lost that she could understand, it happened sometimes.

In a mere 3 seconds Emma was back in her own form, a vampiric skin girl with black eyes, and a white robe with a badge attached to it.

She grabbed whatever remained of the beast and threw it in the massive wooden cart beside her. Today Emma was doing something rather special, training on her own accord! Such freedom was magnificent!

Emma went back to the forest to search for more lost, she couldn't allow herself to waste time.

Luna was still dead, so she still had to go forward till she was back. Even if it felt hard at times, Emma continued.

If she hadn't, she wouldn't ever feel the reward of her hard work, growing, taking a step towards her goal.

Two hours had passed by. It was still the shining morning where the two suns just started to shine.

The cart was filled to the brim with corpses of many Lost, she pulled them into the city on her own.

It wasn't too heavy for Emma, mostly due to her being a Spirit, and the fact Eye had recently started to make her do strength training.

The cart came to a stop, a blue building had been in her way. So Emma entered it.

"Orm! Some new batches of meat are here!" Emma shouted towards the distant bartender in the empty bar.

"Oh geeh, I thought that massive cart of corpses was more glass cups!" a black hair, slim guy, snow-like skin fellow, wearing a brown apron with a badge shouted back sarcastically.

"Yeah take them, I gotta go!" Emma responded, she let go of the cart and ran towards the building she trained with Eye.

After 5 minutes of running Emma made it there, she had been perfectly fine, she looked like she hadn't even ran at all!

Growth was amazing!

"Ready?" Eye said, he was sitting on the dusty floor with a smile on his face.

"Are you?" Emma responded with a large smirk.

Thump!

A large crashing sound had come from where Eye had fallen to. Emma was no longer there, she was replaced by a tiny gremlin creature.

Eye had forbidden Emma from attacking back in any form, but he hadn't stopped her from using her own abilities for other things! She figured this somewhat obvious thing out in the middle of a few sessions when she first started

Emma ran to the other side of the building, Eye got back up with a proud smile, and followed in pursuit.

After some time, Emma was allowed to move. But the Eye had also increased the intensity because of that.

Emma could tell he was coming closer, she prepared herself as Eye once again charged at her. And just before he hit, Emma was gone once again.

She was in the air! Emma had jumped on top of Eye to avoid his next attack.

Bang!

Eye continued persistently attacking Emma persistently, he did so for almost 50 times!

Eye was proud of the developing Emma, he always loved seeing talents like these blossom.

By now Emma was sweating rivers. She couldn't handle going any more.

So she asked for a pause, it was important to take care of one's health! After a few minutes of rest and drinking a blue engerzing capsule Eye had usually given her, she continued to dodge even more for at least 8 times before calling it a day.

She returned to the base like she usually did, but this time she hadnt had to meet with Tilldoor, he was busy with some other things. Besides, Emma didn't need to learn from him anymore, she could study for herself if she wanted to.

Emma entered her shared completely wooden room, the only difference from before and now was that it had many shelves with many books.

Studying this world was like a calm hobby for her, even though she hated school, she still liked learning. At least when she got to choose when she was going to, and what she was going to.

Emma kind of missed her home, she wanted to hug her mom once more.

She developed a bunch of regrets, her time here had made her miss the past, and look forward towards the future.

A new day passes by.

Emma got ready for the day like she usually did, plus today was a special day.

It was her turn for a mission. Those things could either be the funniest thing she had ever experienced in a week, or the boringest things known to man.

Alita was waiting for Emma downstars, she was gazing the ceiling think about her own past, she missed Ms. Olga.

But she couldn't let this thought consume her, Ms. Olga had not wanted her to live in a world of regret. But one where she would move onwards without her.

Ms. Olga had always reminded her, she was going to die one day, whether that death be a good one or an unfortunate one had largely been up to her, she had to move forward, for a good ending.

Emma had come down the stairs, alerting Alita that she was here.

"Today is going to be a very special mission, not only you are going to be on it but the whole crew, we're investigating a serial killing that had taken place in the market. We have to bring justice to the family who had lost a member by finding out and delivering justice to those who had murdered them." Alita said, while kindly pointing towards the door signaling for them to leave.
