Chapter 20 - Shining

"She's there in Alita's heart." Emma responded in her head with a heavy tone.

"When will we get there?" Emma asked, they were currently walking towards the scene of the crime where the mass murdering happened. The three guys from Abnormalities wanted Emma and Alita to go with them to see if anybody else may have survived.

The three also agreed to be arrested for as long as they needed to be, even be sent to lower district if they had too. They wanted to change themselves; they were ashamed of who they were.

"In a little bit. Just around this turn" the python reminded Emma once more.

After they had taken a turn to the left, nearly 10 people could clearly be seen, they all had the same black clothes, and to Emma they kind of looked like ninjas without the mask part.

All of them carried corpses, except for one the tallest of them had carried a massive bazooka.

The stench hurt Emma's nose, she remembered this stench.

She hated it, and she was the only one to blame for her hate for it. It smelled just like how Emma first met the no longer living Luna.

Everyone around here had gotten quiet, even the ninja-clothed people stopped moving.

"Quick Moe!" one of the black clothed people broke the silence, telling the tall one something.

"I'm aware," the tall woman responded. She looked towards the group and continued, "It's unfortunate that I can't stay here Alita, I missed you."

The tall women winked while she and the entire group clutched something in their hands and disappeared into thin air.

"Can everyone here just do that?" Emma asked in her head. This had reminded her of Mr. Wishing Star.

The three Abnormalities rushed towards the building the ninja-clothed people came from immediately after they left.

"They're gone! All of them!" The antler mouth guy screamed. "They took all the bodies, those despicable Shy House members!"

Emma and Alita decided to take a look themselves, what they saw was a place that had resembled a casino, it was covered in a vibrant red.

Emma found this place disturbing, she felt bad for not being there to help the people who had fallen here.

Who knows, maybe doing that would be enough for Luna to forgive her when Emma brings her back.

"Abnormalities is done for. We're gone." the antler mouth guy said as they walked alongside the street. They had finished looking around, right now Alita gave them a few moments to get their stuff. They promised her they wouldn't run off.

"Done for? Aren't we still alive? All we have to do is remake it, to something better, something that protects the pitiful, gives purpose to them again, just like how you did, elder brother." the humanoid python said in a snake like manner.

The guy with an eye for a face gave a thumbs up.

"Thank you guys, but all I did was try my best to survive, I hadn't even thought of you. Forgive this mindless brother of yours. Right after we get out of the slammer, let's start Abnormalities again." The guy with antlers said with a smile, tears were forming in his eyes. He couldn't cry in front of them.

He wasn't their hero, yet they considered him it. They even recognized him as their elder brother. All he truly wanted to say at the moment was "Sorry." and "Thank you."

He was content with the future that awaited them. Because the ones he loved were there with him.

Emma had finally come back to the base; she came earlier then she would have normally. Alita had decided so.

She wasn't supposed to help with transporting the remainder of the gang known as Abnormalities, Alita didn't want her too.

She came back so early that even Tilldoor isn't here yet. Emma had been practicing her reading and writing.

That's right! Emma had finally learned how to read. A tiny bit.

After a bit of hard work, her reward had finally come. Emma had decided to study till TIlldoor had come back.

So, Emma had wrote some stuff and tried to read some nearby books about a weird mucus thing. It was an odd book, but it was all she could find at the moment.

After a few hours, some had finally entered the room.

It was a group of four, Alita and the three other guys and snake from before.

"Don't mind us." the snake said to Emma politely as they headed upstairs.

"Who were those guys?" Tilldoor asked as he came from the door to the living room.

Emma filled him in on what had happened, TIlldoor had told Emma to not worry too much about those stuff, and at least the Abnormalities are gone now.

"Today I figured I'd let you read something as a form of a practice." TIlldoor got something out of a yellow bag that he had behind him.

He gave Emma a book called "The Hero's Burden."

And so, she did read. Trying her best to read outloud, these words were still very odd to her.

"Amidst an endless war, where the Spirits fought against monsters worse than Lost. Heros rose up for the challenge, they fought and fought against these monsters.

The heroes were looking for the glory of victory, the monsters wanted the people to experience misery.

The monster beat the hero's, cutting their numbers to digits so small.

The heroes got beaten all over again, and again. They wanted to live for the light, they dreamt to not of freight.

And they had experienced the light, slowly adapting the monster might.

They won and beat the monsters, but the monstrous beast that was worse than Lost had another tool to use.

The heroes boasted in glory, lived within the light. For the rest of their lives, it was a calm dream.

Until the near end, they notice something wrong. It was a curse that the beast had used!

They had placed a curse to die a death worse than any agony can endure, the hero's death would signify a new form of agony for many.

The might of stars the hero's wielded, yet they decided to run, to not burden their fellow mates with misery.

Their strength led them to implode, a treacherous feeling emerged.

The heroes were the stars that filled the night, the heroes had lost their true sight.

They were the shining terrors of the night."
