The dance of slime and blade had lasted for hours; they had battled to 150 rounds or more already.
As time went on more and more blades appeared around Alita's arms, there were 5 in each. She looked beyond exhausted.
As for Moe, her gauntlets had long been destroyed. All they remained was a lump of slime wrapped around her fist. She too was exhausted to rebuild them with her Gift. But to Emma, she was happy.
Sweat and blood rolled down Moe's face, she was beyond happy. Moe has never felt this alive before.
After Moe finally kills Alita, she wanted to say thank you for this. Tears, blood, and sweat rolled down her face.
Alita was worried she might actually lose to Moe. She couldn't allow herself to! Emma was right there, if she failed Emma would die with her.
For all she knew, all of E team would fall with her! All because she went against the boss's words.
Ms. Olga would be disappointed in her. She missed her old world. Alita wanted Ms. Olga back here, she could've done better than her.
But Alita had to continue living in this world of agony.
Moe loved to live in this world of Bliss!
"Haha! Alita, you're absolutely amazing! But is that all you got? I can still go on for 100 more times!" Moe attempted to shout in broken voice.
Thud.
Alita fell; she had lost. Moe had looked over at her in surprise. Had she actually just won?
Alita had wasted all of her Spirituality. With how long they fought, of course it made sense that she had, even if she was a Wanderer. For Moe, she had the strength, meaning the Spirituality of 20 Spirits.
Strength was connected to Spirituality in some way. Maybe the people of Institute knew why, but the rest of the world didn't.
But Moe still won. Thats all that mattered at the moment.
It was sad, Moe had not wanted it to be over yet! She was supposed to be the one to cure her of the poison called boredom.
What could she do about it though? Moe sighed and continued her mission from Shy House.
"Alita!" Emma shouted through the hands of one of the guys who were holding her. She was going to die, wasn't she?
Emma didn't want to see this. Not another person dying because of her. If she had just been able to get out of here, she would have helped.
Maybe then Alita would have won.
"Quiet down, it's already your turn. Let her go gu-"
Shing.
A blade had pierced Moe's skull. It was a horrific scene for Emma.
"Oh.. I guess you were the one." Moe thought before she fell over.
Somehow, Alita had stood behind Moe. her shining face was painted red.
"No, the light Ms. Olga had brought to my world still exists. It's just hiding amongst the shadows called Agony." Alita thought to herself, nearly fainting.
Even if she was a Wanderer, she was about to die due to lack of spirituality, Alita had to use a special technique Ms. Olga had taught her quickly. It was costly, but she had enough to spare to use this technique.
"Alita! I'm sorry, I couldn't help, I could do anything. I'm sorry" Emma shouted, tear had fallen from eyes. The guys that surrounded her had immediately run away after witnessing their boss fall. They hadn't wanted to be next.
Alita went over to Emma; she was still a child in Alita's eyes. Although Emma had never told her actual age for some reason, she could easily guess that Emma was probably in her early 30s.
Alita had gone over to the little girl and patted her head. She was happy Emma hadn't been hurt.
This scene had reminded her of when she first saw Ms. Olga's true self. Alita was a little girl like Emma to, the only difference was that she was in the midst of a forest.
Ms. Olga's touch was soft and gentle. It was like she was always there for her.
"The light still existed." Alita accidently said out loud.
Although Emma's hair had been painted red. She could feel nothing but a cold feeling of admiration, and love. A smile had lit up Emma's face.
Alita had survived, that's all that mattered to her right now.
As the sun slowly started to fall, Alita had regained enough spirituality to not be so exhausted.
"You got to go back to the base quickly Emma, the night is coming." Alita announced with a stern voice to Emma.
Emma had already felt the sun's presence slowly started to run away, "What about you?"
"I will be fine; I'm a Wanderer of Agony." Alita said reluctantly. She would bring her back herself if she needed to.
The Night was too dangerous. It was descending too quickly.
For the first time in a while Emma saw a twilight sky. It was only a minute or two before the Night had actually come. It looked amazing to Emma.
Thud.
Alita quickly knocked out the little girl. She had to get her out at any cost. It was her only option. Even if that fool had been telling her to do it too, she had to save Emma.
Alita had picked up Emma off the ground. Now Alita had to see if the others were already in the base.
Or if they were attacked by Shy House too. Just as Alita thought that the Night had come.
It was beyond dark, only illuminated by the light of many kinds, some were pink, some were red, some were blue, some were larger lights, some were smaller lights, and etc. Unlike earth and a few other planets, the sky had no moon.
Then the reason why people feared the Night had happened. Alita felt a large headache bloom in her head, it was hard of her to think.
The Night was easier for her to handle; she was after all a Wanderer.
Although it had hurt for Alita, this was nothing compared to what the Night truly did to people or rather Agony. It was only slightly bad for her, if Emma were still awake right now…
She probably would've died due to the pain of the Night, and she had a Mental Agony just like Alita.
Alita needed to find the rest of her team. Although maybe none of them had mental Agony's, it didn't mean they can't die because of their Agony's.
The Night raises an Agony's level higher forcefully, it produces Lost. The ones who are in the most danger of dying are Eye, Tilldoor, Orm, and Oliver. They are all on the third level of Agony, and some are nearly going to ascend.
But because they hadn't yet, they're Agony would be to much to handle for them. They would be in extreme pain due to the immensity of it.
As for Alita, she was only a level 4 Wanderer, even if it had raised it level she would still be fine. Maybe that is.
No one knew what the full extent of the Night was. All they knew was Wanderers had a higher chance of surviving it.
It could still very much be their end.
The unknown awaited them, like it always had been.
