Chapter 19 - bait

Haru ran up onto the bed and jumped right between Fyrel and Hwa. Those two, still heated, tried to catch their breath and calm down.

Haru wanted cuddles too... She lay down in the middle, waiting for the two of them to hug her. Hwa and Fyrel glanced at each other and laughed... then they hugged Haru.

At the bedroom door, the maid and Sukatsu watched from there... Sukatsu covered her mouth, holding back laughter. She knew what was happening.

Did we disturb you two in your room? she asked while making a face to suppress her giggles.

Hwa then got up, her body only covered with a towel... She ran out of the room.

Ohhhh... ohhhh... Sukatsu teased them in an annoying voice.

Stop it, old hag! Stop teasing her like that! What do you need this early in the morning...?

Nothing... It's just common for us to wake you up like this. There'll be a lot of work you need to do later.

Hmmmmm...I've only been in this world for three days, and everything's moving too fast... No room for me to have an easy life... he muttered in his heart.

He got up from the bed and headed to the bathroom. I'll get ready first...While inside, he once again felt like someone was watching him. Damn, I'm still not used to all this...

At the afternoon...

Fyrel was sitting alone in an office-like room, leaning his head back on a sofa-like chair.

Then, Sukatsu, Hwa, and Amier entered the room and sat on the sofas in the area. Fyrel lifted his head and looked at the three of them.

So, what should I do to help the humans... and leave aside the Prophets? I'm not interested in that.

Sukatsu answered the question. There are six countries, each ruled by humans who believe in their own Angels. It's simple... but also hard. You just need to make them believe in you. And the hardest part? It's nearly impossible.

Fyrel then asked, Why is it impossible?

Hwa answered, Because my two siblings, humans from other dimensions—all of them failed. So far, only Sukatsu has managed to return here.

Hmmm... So who were those that ambushed us that night?

Amier replied,I just got the info from our spy this country. Our country is ruled by an Angel named Remiol (Angel of Visions). They were hired by the kingdom to kill you.

Ohh, I see… No wonder they were so quick to act.

Sukatsu felt worried—if things continued like this, Fyrel would remain in constant danger.

Should we move from here? Even though this is a free land, it's still within Remiol's territory. It'll be tough if they already know our location. Besides, we're used to a nomadic life anyway. How about it, Fyrel?

But Fyrel had another idea—one even crazier than running away.

Hey… You all ever feel like doing something insane? He looked like he was barely holding back laughter.

The three of them simply accepted whatever decision he made and nodded in unison.

Fyrel grabbed his diamond sphere necklace and pulled something out from within it.

It was Nocturne's head—the Angel he had killed, the one that made him suffer endless pain and forced him to wear that stranger's sleeping mask .

The three of them were shocked when Fyrel pulled out Nocturne's head. Sukatsu was the most stunned.

This is the craziest idea I've ever seen… Don't tell me you're planning to hang his head in the middle of the village?!

Fyrel nodded. The three of them fell silent.

Well… nothing we can do. If it's your order, we'll follow it. Where the hell did the Goddess find someone as insane as you? Sukatsu rubbed his temples in stress.I swear, I'm gonna age twice as fast at this rate…

Without a word, Fyrel glanced at Amier and commanded him to hang Nocturne's head in the village square.

Amier simply accepted the task, took the severed head, and left the room.

Upon reaching the center of the village, there stood a tall flagpole. Amier lowered the country's flag and replaced it by tying the angel's head to the rope and hoisting it up high.

From the office window, Fyrel couldn't hide his creepy smile—as if a darker, crueler side of him had surfaced.

What do you gain by provoking the angels like this? Won't this just make them furious?

Fyrel leaned back in his chair.

I just want to see how angels react when humans think outside the box. They don't possess true intellect - they're only adapted to this world and how its humans think. But not me.

Let's toy with them. Now, our meeting ends here. You may all rest.

As a sign of respect to the Prophet, they bowed before leaving the room. Outside, the village had fallen into gloom as terrified villagers stared at the lozenge-shaped forehead adorning the severed head on the flagpole - a mark only angels possessed.

Panic spread through the crowd. What could the Prophet possibly be thinking, doing something like this?

Then Ryn emerged from the shadows of the room where he'd been lurking unseen.

Fyrel issued his command coldly:

Clear out the disturbances that will come tonight. Kill them all - leave none alive. We'll start by eliminating every spy in this village.

Ryn nodded silently... and vanished into the darkness.

Then only Fyrel remained alone in the room. He tapped-tapped the table with his finger. Not long after he fell asleep.

In the evening... the office door opened and maid entered bringing water and bread.. Fyrel who still in sleeping condition on his chair didn't realize if someone entered.

The maid put it on the table and approached him.. the face on the maid seemed different kinda angry and with her hand she... just startled Fyrel from sleep by shaking-shaking his body..

Fyrel then woke up from sleep.. what time it is?

Maid then answered.. already evening master I have prepared water and bread.. please eat..

Fyrel then took the bread and drink that and immediately ate without hesitation.. he suddenly silent... and not long after.

It's not that hard to find the spy... right, maid?
