After announcing herself, Lady Fontair was quickly removed from the room by the doctor as he then sat down in a chair next to Evan. He began to read his papers before looking at him.
"I apologize, but I hope you don't plan on being a swordsman. Your right hand took some serious damage along with your second one as well. Not only were your fingers broken, but your tendons were almost destroyed. This shouldn't affect your day to day life, but I strongly advise against carrying heavy objects if it can be avoided."
Evan gripped his sheet a bit, not in rage or frustration, but out of wishing to feel the sensation within his hands. Eddie had spent over half his runs of H.K.U being a swords man, and now that option was completely out of the window now permanently since this was his one and only life.
He chuckled a bit before looking out the window. The scene was beautiful as the sun began to set with an orange glow embracing the environment. Evan thought this would be the perfect moment for the main heroine to confess her love to the main character instead of being a patient who had lost a good chunk of his confidence of survival.
Thoughts of his repeated deaths within the game filled his head as he released them along with his negativity. Why should he feel down just because he won't be able to become a knight? Being a mage is just as good if not better, although Evan had no talent with magic in the slightest.
'Well there goes any idea of becoming a swords man. At least I'm alive though, however this does complicate my futures slightly. I guess I'm going to be a mage then.'
Later that day, Evan managed to sit up as he and Lady Fontair looked at each other alone in his room.
"So you saved my life huh? Well out with it then. What do you want from me?" Evan said with a cold look in his eyes.
"Its quite rude to look at your future wife like that you know. And stop calling me that! You know my name is Amari! Although not ok, I'll forgive you this once since you're still hurt. Now humor me, do you plan to attend any academy? You are of age to enroll." Amari asked, leaning her head on her palm while looking at Evan with a curious look.
As she examined Evan, a small smile began to form on her face. It could only be read as pity.
"Well the doctor said earlier that I shouldn't wield a sword, so that destroyed any chance I had at being a knight. My best bet now is to join a school that works heavily with magic. Although I might have to wait a while since the new semester has already finished taking applicants." Evan responded as he took a sip of his drink.
Amari looked at Evan with calculating eyes before sliding him a letter with the Aethel Guard, one of the most militaristic schools and not Veridia Academy which was the main academy in H.K.U. Evan spat his drink out in his cup with both surprise and happiness since the invitation event had started.
'After not being able to formally talk to her at the party, I was seriously doubting this event happening at all. Maybe it was because I was super hurt and was also kidnapped.'
After wiping down his mouth, he reached out for the letter only for his hand to be smacked.
"By your reaction, you already know what it is so I'll cut to the chase. Take the letter and go to Aethel Guard. You're guaranteed to get a high ranking position and most importantly for you, it only accepts nobles."
Evan leaned back in his seat as he shot a glare at Amari. He knew that this was a ploy to prevent him from attending Veridia. Story wise it never served a real purpose since no matter what he did, Evan would die of poisoning on his first day there. The reason for the poisoning could never be noted so he eventually gave up that route.
"I understand and thank you for your kindness Lady Fon- Amari. Unfortunately I will have to decline. I actually would rather try to attend Veridia with Talon."
"Why? You always went on about how great the Aethel Guard was, and how much better it was compared to being surrounded by commoners. What's with the sudden change of heart?" Amari asked with her arms crossed, along with a hint of disdain in her voice.
"Honestly I'm quite curious about the place. I want to see just how much those low lifes can grovel and beg for a chance at attaining power and knowledge. The sight of them lunging at the chance to become someone valuable to society is quite amusing don't you think?" Evan said smugly.
"Well there is nothing I can really do about that now can I? Very well, do as you wi-"
"Hold it. Although you did give me your insignia, I did manage to secure you not only a decent future if you do attend Veridia, but a new source of prospects. I do think that is in line with some reward. Nothing large of course, I just need you and your connections to get me accepted in Veridia"
"I have no reason to entertain such a thought. Like we established, our deal ended when you gained my insignia and I the artifact. Now if you'll excuse me."
"Hows your mothers condition by the way? You know, the one you had except much much worse. I wonder how long it would take for the news to spread that she is dying." Evan said, knowing that would get her attention
Her eyes widened, her back facing Evan. She stood still as she clenched her fist in anger. Although knowing how bad he could be, she never thought he would stoop this low. Her mothers condition flashed in her head as she turned her head towards Evan, refusing to look him in the eyes.
"You're despicable." Amari said.
"Apologies but I have my own agendas. Don't worry, I have zero evidence plus my reputation would always cause doubt and only make it a baseless rumor. You should just think of this as a sign of trust between us, from lover to lover."
Evan smiled as he began to see the mask Amari had worn all day through their meeting slowly starting to crumble. He then caught himself as he began to both feel immense pleasure in breaking her down, yet disgusted with himself. Calming down, he took a sip of his tea once more, now awaiting a response.
"Youll get your damn letter."
"Thank you Amari. I'll be sure to repay you."
"Dont bother."
She quickly exited the room, slamming the door behind her as she stormed off in a rage, Shoving a maid that had gotten in her
'Thank you past me for managing to complete her main route and-. Wait, I don't think I ever actually completed her true ending. That was when I started to heavily invest myself into Evan's story. That's weird, but it's not like I've completed everyone's true ending as well.'
After taking a moment to clear all his thoughts, he grew a giant smile with his eyes showing a devious plot. He rose quickly and ordered a maid to get his carriage, since he was going to be heading over to Bayspire to have a word with Mr.Woods. He needed to give a few answers on why his men did not show and let the plan go to ruin.

As Evan entered his office, Mr.Woods had a look of happiness on his face as he instantly rose and began to grovel at his feet.
"Evan! I'm so sorry! It was all my fault, my men should have arrived sooner! I was extremely worried about you! After hearing about… I thought you were for sure dead!" Mr.Woods cried, now hugging Evans legs with him trying to pry him off.
Evan was clearly surprised by his reaction. He was confident it was a face to save his skin, but it was still a better reaction than anyone within his own household. Although wanting to be furious with him since it was his fault that he was kidnapped, he couldn't muster up any foul emotions against him. Instead, his smile returned as he leaned down to Mr.Woods level.
"Hey. If you really feel sorry for me, then why don't we renegotiate our deal.~"
