Chapter 41 - Battling a Constellation (Part 2)

Zayden moved with great speed and threw out the spike. The spike arched in the air and went towards the constellation with alarming speed.

"Annoying"

It was at this point that one of the chains cracked, and the constellation swung the purple sword in his hand releasing not just one, but three arcs of phantom energy at Zayden.

Seeing this, Zayden's eyes widened as the realization dawned on him. He quickly jumped out of the way dodging two of the attacks, while using his sword to block the third arc.

Not just Zayden, Tyrel and Dare had looks of shock on their faces.

The Phantom Warlock saw the realization in Zayden's eyes and couldn't help but smirk.

"You remember now"

Zayden suddenly started laughing. His laugh was loud and it annoyed the phantom warlock to no end.

"Are you f*cking stupid"

As the words left Zayden's mouth, not just the phantom warlock, but the rest of the team had stunned expressions on their faces. Zayden had the gall to insult a constellation.

"So just because I didn't choose to form a contract with you, you decided to kill me. Think about it, aren't you behaving like a spoiled brat, throwing a tantrum when you didn't get what you wanted?"

"Now that I think about it, for you to be able to descend on an incomplete world with this much power means you aren't really strong, and I think I know the reason for that. You are f*ckig stupid and with this kind of character, there's no way you can ever be strong"

Everyone was stunned. Even if it was the weakest of all constellations, it was still way stronger than anything they could imagine, so Zayden speaking to it like that wasn't good at all.

"You dare speak to me, the Phantom Warlock, like that?"

The constellation roared, thoroughly angered by Zayden's words.

Zayden just smirked.

"Yes I did, and What the f*ck are you going to do about it"

"Lest you forget, this world is incomplete, so there is no way you can use your full powers on this world, or you will face the consequences. And with your powers like this, I'm pretty sure I can defeat you soon"

Hearing what Zayden said, the others could now understand why Zayden could afford to talk to a constellation like so. But even so, they weren't sure they could defeat a constellation.

"Let me see you try"

The angry warlock flexed a little and the chains of ice broke. It kicked the air and flew towards Zayden at alarming speed.

The rest of the team seeing this charged at the constellation, releasing skills of their own.

Now knowing the source of this event, Zayden couldn't help but chuckle all of this just because he rejected a childish constellation.

He activated his oblivion cloak on his sword. Even though he said that the constellation was weak, he still knew that he was way stronger than him, and this battle was going to be very hard.

"BOOM!!"

The two swords clashed in the middle, and a large shockwave spread into the surroundings. Both parties were pushed back. Zayden had a weird face as if struggling to hold in a shout, whereas the phantom warlock had anger written all over his face.

It was about to rush at Zayden once again when a gigantic black feather appeared in front of him, clashing with his sword and sending him flying back.

An annoyed look could be seen on his face, but the team didn't care. Tyrel appeared in front of him, his fist covered in lightning that had the shape of a shark's head.

"Take this you entitled prick"

He swung his fist at Warlock. The warlock quickly shielded its face from the attack but the shocking property of lightning affected him, making him stunned for a few seconds.

At the same time, the phantom warlock was surprised.

Even if he was relatively weaker than a few of the constellations... well, a lot of the constellations, there were only a few lightning constellations that would affect him.

So the fact that this lesser being's lightning managed to affect him was really surprising.

The rest of the team took advantage of this chance, releasing their attacks.

Valeria in particular appeared in front of the phantom warlock, her blade glowing with holy energy. The phantom warlock most definitely knew holy energy.

He also knew that the beings that could use holy energy were supreme beings, so the fact that Valeria could use holy energy meant that a supreme being had agreed to form a contract with her.

He quickly jumped out of the way dodging the attack. There was no way he was going to allow holy energy to touch him; only he knew what it would do to this body that he created.

But it was now that it took time to focus on the rest of the team. He had been too angry with Zayden to know that the rest of his team were strong and had monstrous talent.

If he could even see one of their constellation, he didn't think it would be wrong for him to bow until his head was inside the ground. But now, he was fighting their followers.

'How did these guys gain these contracts?'

He was perplexed. But there was no going back now. He used a lot of energy to descend, forming an unstable body to hold a little bit of his power. All of these required a whole lot of energy.

And if he were to stop now, all that energy would be wasted.

Now, one would think, why would he waste all this energy to go after a being in an incomplete world?

Well, the answer was simple... because he was petty.

As explained in previous chapters, Zayden was the very first entity to level up on this planet. Even though he wasn't the highest levelled entity anymore, he was the first and as the first, he had more leverage than other entities on this planet.

Now, why was this important?

Well, it was because the planet was sentient.

Sentient in the sense that it had basic functions. And as a sentient being, the planet knew that Zayden was the first being to level up, the first being to use cosmic energy, and it had more of an inkling towards him.

This was important because if Zayden was strong enough, he would be invited to the core of the planet and might get the heart of the planet, gaining control over the planet's spirit and in turn owning the planet.

So the Phantom Warlock wanted to bet on the fact that Zayden might get the heart of the planet. And if Zayden was contracted to him, he owned a share of the planet in its entirety.

This was useful because owning a planet would allow him to descend with all of his abilities and spread his teachings thereby increasing his powers.

But as Zayden rejected his calling, he lost the chance to a major increase in power. And since it was angry so since he couldn't get the planet, and he didn't want anyone else to get it, at least not from Zayden.

So he was petty...

He planned to quickly kill Zayden but he didn't know it was going to be his hard, and he was getting angry.

But his anger meant nothing to no one as Amara silently appeared behind it, her small dagger covered with necrotic energy.

The phantom warlock could feel a cold shiver down his spine, and without looking, he quickly jumped out of the way.

Unfortunately for it, it wasn't fast enough and the dagger managed to shallowly wound him.

From the wound on his arm, he could see the black veins on his hands, and his eyes widened.

There was only one constellation that was potent enough to cause him this much damage.

"Hades"

He quickly turned around, but he couldn't see the cause of the attack. A frown appeared on his face.

'This is getting dangerous'

If things weren't handled well, even if he went back, he might be in danger.

There was no time to think about it as Zayden appeared behind him. Without giving him any chance to react, Zayden plunged his sword into the stomach of the constellation.

"F*ck it"

As those words reached Zayden's ears, he felt an ominous feeling in his heart.

"Remember, you caused me to do this"

With that, a shocking wave of energy came out of the body of the constellation, so strong that Zayden was pushed back a few meters.

His already towering aura became much more stronger and cracks started to appear on the body, bright purple light shining through those cracks.

"This vessel won't hold on much longer now"

The phantom warlock said, but his energy didn't reduce, it only increased.

Zayden looked up at the floating warlock and only one solution came to mind.

"I need to form my neiden"
