Chapter 34 - Class Options

At the same time...

Zayden slumped onto the body of the Umbra Serpent, his breathing very heavy. The familiar pings of multiple system messages assaulted his ear, but for now, he chose to ignore, soaking in the reality that he just defeated a mutant beast more than seven levels above his.

Suddenly, the familiar egg appeared and gave off a dark glow. A suction force as strong as machines used for construction came off its body. In front of Zayden's eyes, the once gigantic body of the Umbra snake started shrinking up, too quickly for Zayden to do anything.

A stream of red blood with a dark glow flowed into the small egg that looked more like a black hole now. Once it was done, it gave off a black glow, with some hints of blood red. Slowly, it floated in front of Zayden before landing in Zayden's outstretched hand.

'At this point, I give up'

[Egg of Unknown Origin]

[Tier:???]

[Rank:???]

[Incubation: 30.75/100%]

Zayden was pleasantly surprised because this was a very big jump from its previous eleven percent. He looked back at the Umbra Serpent, but all he could see were a bunch of scales, bones, a glowing black shard, and a weird orb.

Well, he was too tired to do anything, and his dimension ring was filled up, so there was no space to store the scales and other stuff.

Since he needed to recover and there was nothing to do anyway, he decided to check the rest of the system messages.

[New Skill Formed]

[Dark Spike]

[Grade: Rare]

[Description: Use 30% of energy to form a spike of darkness. If special conditions are met, Dark Spike may dissolve, dealing more damage.]

[+10% EXP]

This was no surprise. In truth, Zayden expected something like this to happen.

'Now that I think about it, what's the criterion for a skill to be accepted by the system?' Zayden thought, half expecting a system message to pop up, but nothing happened.

[You Have Killed Umbra Serpent]

[Rewards and EXP will be withheld until You Complete the Class Up Quest]

And that was the end of it. There were no more system messages.

Zayden wasted no time and opened up the Class Up option proposed by the system.

[Choose One from the Following Options]

[Martial Arts Master]

[Grade: Common]

[Description: Your Fists are your best friends; they help you in self-defense, and they help you talk. Continue down the path of a martial arts Master and take the usefulness of your hands and eventually your whole body to the next level.

[Apprentice Forger]

[Grade: Common]

[Description: Forge weapons and help the whole of humanity on a different front. Though you won't be able to fight anymore, your forging skills will help humanity as a whole.

[Envoy Of Darkness]

[Grade: Unique]

[Description: Increase your control over darkness and give in to the calling of your dark side]

[Heir to Oblivion]

[Grade: ???]

[Description: Create a path for yourself]

Zayden was excited and surprised at the same time. In his previous life, he never even got the chance to choose a class after destroying himself from the get-go. He was the trash of the trash. But now, after fixing himself a little, he not only got a class, but he got options to choose from.

Calming down his excitement, Zayden began to study the classes he had to choose from.

The first class, Martial arts master, is a path the system thinks he might be able to go through after seeing him fight with just his fists coated in oblivion flux for the longest time. Even though it was just at the common grade, there was a lot of potential. Coupled with the fact that his oblivion flux is very flexible, no matter which class he chooses.

Unfortunately, there was no appeal to Zayden. The only reason he used his fists to fight most of the time was because the system stopped him from using system weapons, and he never had the chance to forge a new weapon for himself. So there was no way he was choosing the first option.

The next class, apprentice forger, was interesting. This is basically the path the system thinks he could follow, due to his slight interest in forging. But there was seriously no way he was going to choose this class because of a few problems.

Even though his oblivion flux was very flexible and could even make him a could forger, becoming a forger was a whole other profession entirely. And if he is not a fighter, surviving the apocalypse and saving Earth from their horrible fate would be almost impossible.

So no, there was no way he was choosing this particular class.

Now, the third option was a whole lot more appealing, not even because it jumped a few grades to become unique right away, but also because the potential here was almost limitless.

An envoy was the messenger, representative, or agent of someone or something. Now, being an envoy of not someone, but an actual law, was amazing. He knew for sure that he would get amazing skills, and he might not even need to create any more skills, and just get them as he levels up.

But the thing now is that he would be more inclined to darkness. Even though his oblivion flux would still be there, it would be more inclined toward darkness, making it hard for him to learn other laws.

And Zayden most surely wasn't going to learn just one law, so even though this option was good, it wasn't appealing to him either.

This all led up to the last option, Heir of Oblivion.

Now, from his memories of his past life, Zayden had only ever heard of there being two Constellation heirs on the full planet. And those two individuals were supremely strong; it was as if the constellation was made for them alone. Their use of the energy and the powers they exhibited was beyond human comprehension, all because they were heirs.

So seeing this option appear on his system was surprising. From the fact that the system was unable to read the grade of the class.

What he understood from the description was basically that he had to forge a path on his own. This is continuing on the path that he had chosen before. Basically, him finding out how to use his newfound powers to the best of his abilities.

That said, this option was the most appealing to him, and he didn't know why, but he felt that if he didn't choose it now, he would regret his choice for a long time.

Without wasting time, he clicked on the option, Heir of Oblivion as another system screen appeared in front of him.

[You Have Chosen Heir Of Oblivion]

[Complete The Following Quests to Class UP]

[Absorb 30 Power Shards (0/30)]

[Form One law Nieden (0/1)]

[Forge 6 Rare Weapons (0/10)]

[Forge 2 Unique Weapons (0/3)]

[Create 3 New Skills (0/3)]

[Rewards: Class Up, ???, ???]

Seeing the requirements, Zayden couldn't help but smile wryly. Of course, nothing could ever be easy.

"What the f*ck is a law nieden and how do I form one and since when could I absorb power shards" Zayden complained.

There was no going back now; he had to do all this, if not, he would not be able to class up.

By now, he had recovered a little bit and was able to move again. Two of the quests caught his eye. The weapon forging quest.

He had been putting off forging weapons for some time, and it almost cost him his life this time. Now that it was part of what he needed to class up, it was even more important to forge it.

Thankfully, with the death of the umbra serpent, he had gotten a few of the things he would need to forge one of the weapons he had been wanting to forge since he completed the codex. Even though he got no ores, he could use beast parts and the shards from his cocoon to supplement it.

Zayden was about to stand up when another system message appeared in front of him,

[You Have Comprehended the Law of Darkness]

[Reward: Law Nieden Formation technique]

As soon as he was done reading the system message, a stream of information flowed into his head, leaving Zayden dazed for a few seconds.

Once he was done sorting out the information, a smile broke out onto his face. He got the way to create the law nieden and if what he understood was true, he was going to get a massive boost in his strength,

But that wasn't important now, it was one at a time, he needed to forge his weapon first before he thought about forming his law nieden.

With newfound vigor, he jumped to his feet and walked over to the body of the umbra snake, or at least what remained of it. It was time to forge.
