Sona silently prepared the orders in the kitchen. She watched her mother put an apron on Yoohgi and show him what to do. Seeing an idol do such work was strange, but at least she didn't have to worry about his fans recognizing him here.
As the number of customers increased, the boy had to run from table to table to take orders. Surprisingly, though, he did an excellent job. He didn't complain about his sore feet or fatigue. He had a smile on his face, and it seemed as if he enjoyed his temporary job. He must have gotten used to the constant workload, as he seemed right at home.
The evening quietly enveloped the city streets. Yoongi, tired sat down at a free table. His feet hurt, and the pain was nothing compared to the training he endured every day at work. He wanted to rest but didn't want to appear weak in front of Sona. He pretended he was ready to work more, but Sona could see the fatigue on his face from far away. She served him her mother's noodles and sat down next to him.
"Here, eat," she said. "But it's hot." Before she could finish her sentence, the boy pounced on his dinner. In a matter of seconds, the plate was empty.
"Oh, the boy is hungry," said his mother, bringing him another serving of noodles. "Eat up and get some strength." You helped us a lot today," she praised him.
"Thank you," he said, devouring the incredibly delicious noodles.
"Can I ask you something? How do you know my Sona?"
"She stole my phone," Yoongi joked.
"What?" Mom exclaimed in shock.
"What?" Sona asked, staring at him in surprise.
"Hey, don't worry. We've agreed on everything. She'll give me my phone back, and I'll help her at work," Yoongi said.
"What? You...
"Sona, where are your manners?" Her mother stopped her so that she wouldn't say anything unnecessary.
"I'm sorry, Mom," the girl said formally, hoping to avoid a punishment. Suddenly, Mina entered the diner.
"Mom, I'm hungry!" she shouted from the doorway. Mom bustled about. "Oh, Mina, you're here. Sit down. I'll bring you some seaweed soup right away."
"No, I want tteokbokki. I want tteokbokki," Mina ordered, scanning the snack bar. She fixed her gaze on her sister. "What are you doing here?" she asked rudely when she noticed a familiar face. "Oh my, who's with you?" Yoongi began to hide his face because, over the past few years, he had learned how fans would react. "Oh my, it's... It's..." Mina was speechless.
It was him, the idol. A member of her favorite band. He was a rapper with an extraordinary voice and a handsome face whose smile drove millions of fans crazy.
"Min Yoongi?" she asked again, wanting to be sure, but he remained silent.
The boy just turned to her uncertainly. Mina screamed like a madwoman.
"Aaah! I can't believe it! Yoongi at Mom's snack bar!" she shouted. Sona decided not to delay. She jumped out from behind the table and covered her sister's mouth with her hand.
"If you don't scream, I'll tell you everything. Promise me." Her sister nodded. Sona let go of her.
"Wow, I can't believe it. It's really you..." Mina admired her idol up close. She could touch her, hug her, and smell her perfume.
"Mina..." Sona distracted her from her idol. "Promise me you won't tell anyone. You know what the consequences could be."
"Yes... I know," her sister said, lowering her head.
"Hey, don't be sad," Yoongi reassured her. "You can visit us anytime."
"Really? Really?" Mina exclaimed in surprise.
"What?" Mom and Sona said in unison.
"It's okay," the boy assured them. "BigHit is always happy to welcome new talent, so let her come when she can."
"Hooray! My dream is finally coming true. I knew this day would come," Mina said.
"No, no, and no again. I won't allow it," her mother said stubbornly.
"Mom, please. Just once. Let me try," begged the younger daughter, pressing herself against her mother's chest. She pulled a cute face.
"All right. But only if you pass all your exams. If I see even one bad grade, that's it."
"I promise, Mom. I'll try my best," the daughter promised.
Meanwhile, Yoongi's phone was ringing off the hook with calls and messages. Everyone wanted to know where he had gone and why he wasn't back at the dorm yet. It was well past midnight, but the boy didn't want to go home. He wanted to spend a little more time with Sona. But she was tired, too. She stretched and walked him to the bus stop. Since there were almost no people on the street, Yoongi could walk calmly without a mask.
"Thank you. I had a wonderful time with you today," the boy said.
"Thank you for helping us today. I didn't expect that from you."
"Yes, I know how to surprise people," he boasted.
"No, really, thank you. I'm not as grateful as my mother is. This diner means everything to her. It holds memories of her father." Tears welled up in the girl's eyes.
"Hey, am I seeing tears?"
"No, it's just the wind," she said, wiping her cheeks. Suddenly, Yoongi reached out and hugged her. He stroked her hair to calm her down.
His embrace was so warm that she didn't want him to let go of her. Pressing her cheek against his chest, she wished with all her heart that the moment would last forever. She wrapped her arms around him, holding him tight as if he were about to disappear. Tears rolled down her cheeks again. Suddenly, she felt his breath on her lips. Her heart beat wildly. It felt like it was going to jump out of her chest. But the romantic moment was interrupted by a bus that arrived at the stop early.
"It's time for you to go," said Sona.
"Yes," he said, glancing at the bus.
He lowered his head and headed for the open door. He got inside and sat down on one of the seats. The bus started moving. Sona turned around, sadness in her heart, and headed home.
She wanted to scream, but held herself back. A few seconds later, she heard footsteps behind her. Yoongi stopped the bus and ran as fast as he could to catch up with her. He couldn't just leave. Especially since she was feeling so heavyhearted right now.
Slowing down, the boy hugged her tightly and kissed her. He had been dreaming about her lips all day. He wanted to touch them and taste them, and he was right. They were sweet, like strawberries in summer. Closing his eyes, he enjoyed the kiss as if it were his first and last. The ground slipped away from under their feet, but neither of them minded flying far away and touching the clouds. Together, they forgot about reality, and together, they returned to it.
"I have to go," he said, finally tearing his lips away from hers. She just nodded in response, unable to speak from surprise and pleasure. "See you tomorrow," he said, running to the bus, which was still waiting for its last passenger.
Sona couldn't believe what had happened. She stood at the bus stop for a long time, reminiscing about the kiss. Her fingers froze before she realized it. When she arrived home, she received a message from Yoongi saying that he had arrived safely. While lying in bed, she received his last message of the day, which required an immediate response.
Yoongi:
"Sona, will you go out with me?"
Sona:
"Yes!"
