Chapter 5 - YoonGi

The day started off surprisingly well. For the first time, Sona wasn't rushing to catch the bus because she had left early. The weather was beautiful. The blue sky was dazzling. The sun was shining brightly, giving off a little warmth. The ground was still covered in snow, but there was already a hint of spring in the air. Sleep had given the girl energy, and a brief exchange with Yoongi, as well as some music, had filled her with positivity and put her in a good mood. All the failures of the last few days were forgotten.

Smiling, Sona walked down the street, listening to music on Yoongi's phone. She had heard most of the songs before because she had listened to the Bangtan albums hundreds of times. Her younger sister had played them during the holidays.

The BigHit building appeared around the next corner. The girl's heart leapt with joy and excitement. She didn't know which feeling overwhelmed her more.

The dressing room was noisy. The staff was preparing for the workday ahead. The sound of a new message was heard. Sona read it with a smile.

Yoongi:

"Let's meet during the break. I'll be waiting by the large panoramic window."

"How does he know about the panoramic window?" she wondered. "Was he watching me?" She smiled and blushed again.

There was a lot of work to do. Many employees were out sick with the flu, so the remaining staff had twice as many responsibilities. It was still a long way to lunch, and she was already tired. Her legs hurt, and she had almost no strength left in her arms.

Sona was stuck on the second floor, washing windows. Two other women were with her. Music and loud laughter could be heard coming from the halls and auditoriums. Young men were rehearsing in the hallways. The girl admired their perseverance and endurance. She could have been among them, but unfortunately, performing on stage had never been her dream. Only her younger sister, Mina, dreamed of popularity. However, their mother forbade her to think about it until she finished her studies.

Lunch time came and went unnoticed. After changing her clothes, she waited for Yoongi by the panoramic window. For some reason, she was nervous, as if she were going on a date. She paced back and forth. She held the boy's phone in her hands and had been looking for him for ten minutes, first at one end of the corridor and then at the other.

"Calm down, Sona. It's not a date. He'll just bring his phone, and you'll give it back to him. That's all," she reassured herself, but her anxiety did not go away. "Oh, why am I so nervous? Nothing can happen between us. So what if we have the same songs on our playlists, or if our favorite songs are numbered the same? That happens; it's just a coincidence. Yesterday, he only replied to my message because I asked him to return my phone, not because he wanted to write to me. How silly. What am I thinking?" she said, not noticing Yungi standing behind her and listening to her strange monologue. "Oh, you're here?" Sona was startled when she saw the boy.

"Hi!" Yoongi greeted her, leaning his shoulder against the wall.

"Hello..." She hid her gaze behind her long hair. This only made the guy smile, which was maddening.

"Here's your phone," she said, holding it out with both hands. She was still afraid to look at him. Her cheeks were burning.

"Oh, thank you," he said, taking it from her and exchanging it for another smartphone. Sona put it in her pocket. Words disappeared, and they stood in silence.

"What's your name?" he asked, breaking the silence.

"What?" Oh, Sona," she said, finally looking at him. She felt helpless for the first time. It was all because of his smile.

"I'm Yoongi. My friends call me Suga," he said, extending his hand to shake hers. The girl slowly extended her hand. When their palms touched, she felt as if she had been struck by lightning. He was still looking at her so intently that she couldn't concentrate on a single thought, and she didn't know what to do. "Okay, I have to go. The guys are waiting. It was nice to meet you. I hope we'll see each other again."

"Oh, yes. I hope so too," the girl said, blushing again.

"Have a nice day," he said, smiling as he walked to the elevator. "By the way, you're very photogenic. Like a real model," he finally said. Sona watched him go. Then it dawned on her that he was talking about the unflattering photos her sister had taken of her.

"Ah!" She started looking for the photos on her phone, determined to delete them once and for all.

Yoongi was already watching from the yard as the girl hurriedly deleted the photos. He felt that pleasant sensation again, filling him with warmth from within. Today, for the first time, he admitted to himself that he liked her. He didn't care who she was or where she came from. It didn't matter that she worked as a cleaner. She was stunning. He couldn't wait to find out more about her.

The day ended quickly. Sona was getting ready to go home. Hundreds of thoughts were spinning in her head, and she couldn't organize them. The only thing that calmed her down was knowing that tomorrow was her day off. She would finally be able to take a break from everything that had happened. She would have to help her mother at the snack bar, but compared to her daily work at BigHit, it wouldn't seem so difficult. At home, everything was as usual. Sona didn't even eat dinner. She crawled under the blanket and fell asleep instantly.

The next morning, she woke up not to the insistent ringing of an alarm clock but because she had slept long enough to recharge.

Her mother had already been working at the diner for a while, and Mina had left for school. Today, for the first time, her mother didn't bother her so early. She was worried about Sona because she spent more time at work than at home.

Full of energy, Sona couldn't stay home. She quickly got ready and rushed to the diner. And not in vain. There were plenty of customers. They even had to set up a few extra tables outside. This turn of events brought a smile to her mother's face. She hadn't seen her mother smile like that in a long time, and it warmed her heart.

When fewer people came, she was able to relax. She sat down with her mother to eat tteokbokki. They were talking when a message came to her phone.

Yoongi:

"Hi! How's your day going?" The message surprised the girl. Did he write to her? No, this must be a dream.

Sona:

"Hi! I have a day off today."

Yoongi:

"Me too. But only for one day. Maybe we could spend it together?" the boy suddenly suggested.

Sona did not expect this from him. She would like to go for a walk with him and get to know him better. However, her conscience would not allow her to leave her mother to do all the work herself.

Sona

"I'm sorry, but I can't leave my mom. The diner is very busy right now."

Yoongi:

"Then I'll help out." "

Sona:

"Okay, then come over." She wrote jokingly and gave him the address. There was no reply. She and her mother continued working.

After lunch, the diner filled up with customers again. No sooner had her mother finished preparing a dish than another order came in. Sona decided to help her mother with the cooking. She stood by the stove. Together, the work went faster. Her mother was happy about this. Smiling, she explained to her daughter how to properly cook rice so that it wouldn't burn and how to cook noodles so that they wouldn't overcook. She also explained how to correctly season each dish. Today, all the dishes were prepared with love.

While her mother was cooking tteokbokki, she went to the dining room to clean up and take orders. The doorbell rang. A new visitor had arrived, which meant a new order was coming in and Sona would have to cook another dish. Her mother came into the kitchen:

"Sona, someone's here to see you." She was surprised that someone had come to see her daughter.

"What? Who?" Sona had no idea who it could be.

"They said they were looking for you. Go see for yourself." The girl rushed out of the kitchen.

She froze. Yoongi stood at the entrance, wearing a coat and smiling broadly. The girl refused to believe it, but it was real. He probably hadn't expected this himself, but the thought of seeing her today, if only he came to the diner, warmed his heart. It had not beaten calmly in a long time.
