Chapter 28: It's Actually 3600 ATK, So Strong, Too Strong
This wasn't Lucky bragging; in Prison, he was indeed the strongest at Duel Monsters. A large part of his escape was even thanks to Duel Monsters Cards; the patrol patterns of the Prison Guards and other information were all things he had won from others.
"I'll take the First Turn." Unceremoniously snatching the First Turn Right, Lucky drew a Card from his Deck.
[Hayato: 2000 LP, Hand 5]
[Lucky: 2000 LP, Hand 5 → 6]
Holding the Hand Cards while also not putting down his Handgun, Lucky looked down and a satisfied smile appeared on his face: As expected, the past few days really have been my lucky days. This is truly too "Lucky"!
"You're really unlucky, kid, or should I say I'm just too lucky? I didn't expect to draw my Ace Monster on the first Turn." Lucky said smugly, drawing a Hand Card and playing it.
"Summon my strongest Monster, TM-1 Launcher Spider!"
[TM-1 Launcher Spider] [7☆/FIRE] [Machine-Type/Normal] [2200/2500]
On the very first Turn, he drew his strongest Monster in the Deck? Hayato looked at the Card Lucky played. This guy's luck was a bit too good. He should try playing Blue-Eyes White Dragon and start with twenty-four stars plus Fusion and De-Fusion.
"My Turn isn't over yet. I'm also equipping these two Spell Cards to my darling."
Lucky's actions didn't stop after Summoning the Monster; in fact, it was just the beginning. He even played two Spell Cards in one go. And, the two Cards he played were both 7 Completed!
[7 Completed] - Equip only to a Machine-Type Monster. The equipped Monster gains 700 ATK or Defense (DEF).
"What I'm increasing, of course, is ATK. With the effect of two Spell Cards, my big darling's current ATK is—"
"3600!"
[TM-1 Launcher Spider] [ATK 2200 → 3600]
"My Turn ends." Lucky looked at the Monster on the Field with ATK higher than Blue-Eyes White Dragon, feeling quite pleased. Even when playing Cards in Prison, he had never had such a smooth opening. This kid in front of him seemed unusually unlucky.
However, whether he was unlucky or not had nothing to do with him. As long as he was happy, that was enough. "Kid, start your struggle. My Launcher Spider can easily crush any kind of Monster."
[Lucky: Hand 6 → 3]
"Even if I struggle, I wouldn't start struggling at full Life Points. I'm not Kaiser." Saying a line Lucky couldn't understand, Hayato drew a Card, then Set three Cards in his Spell/Trap Zone one after another: "Set three in the Spell/Trap Zone. The Monster I'm Summoning is this one."
Lucky just glanced at the Card Hayato played and found it amusing: "Haha, knowing full well my Launcher Spider has powerful ATK, you still dare to Summon a Monster in Attack Position? I thought playing Cards with a kid like you could relieve some boredom, but this is truly disappointing."
[Arktos of the Crystal] [4☆/LIGHT] [Warrior Type/Normal] [1800/1800]
"You can't say that, Mr. Lucky. I think when facing difficulties, you should bravely face them head-on." Hayato smiled slightly, not explaining anything. "My Turn is over~"
[Hayato: Hand 5 → 6 → 2]
"My Turn. Haha, it seems this Duel is about to end soon." Lucky drew a Card, looked at it, and then laughed. "Since you've actively chosen to be attacked, I'll oblige you. My favorite, TM-1 Launcher Spider, Attack!"
"Well, due to the huge ATK difference, my Arktos will be Destroyed by Launcher Spider, and I will take 1800 points of damage from the difference." Hayato sent the Destroyed Arktos of the Crystal to the Graveyard, but his expression was too calm, making one wonder who was truly at a disadvantage.
[Hayato: 2000 LP → 200 LP]
"You're not worried about your Life Points at all?" Lucky looked at Hayato strangely.
"Of course I'm nervous. After all, my current Life Points are like a candle in the wind, while Mr. Lucky's Life Points are even 1000% of mine." Hayato then unhurriedly flipped over one of his Set Cards. "However, I did Set this Card."
"Damage Vaccine ΩMAX?" Lucky had never seen this Card.
"This Card's Effect is that it can only be activated after I take damage by any means. No matter how much damage I took, I can recover Life Points equal to the damage taken." Hayato explained. "Because of Launcher Spider's Attack, I took 1800 points of damage, so now I will recover 1800 Life Points."
[Hayato: 200 LP → 2000 LP]
"What kind of cheap Card is this! Doesn't that mean you can't be defeated!" Seeing the damage he had just dealt disappear, Lucky felt very annoyed. As a Murderer, he greatly enjoyed the damage caused by Destruction, but if the other person didn't care about the damage after the Destruction, he felt very uncomfortable.
"Not exactly. Damage Vaccine's recovery happens after the damage is dealt. If the damage I took was a bit higher, I would have lost." A smile appeared on Hayato's face. "That was truly 'Lucky'."
"You brat. Hmph, my Turn en—"
"Before Mr. Lucky's Turn ends, I still have the effects of two Cards to activate." Hayato interrupted Lucky's End Turn declaration and flipped over both Cards on his Field.
"I'll activate this one first, and then this one. The Effect of the latter Card resolves first." Since the concept of a "Chain" didn't even exist at this time, Hayato changed his wording. "Time Machine, I can revive a Monster that was Destroyed this Turn."
"Come back, Arktos of the Crystal!"
[Arktos of the Crystal] [ATK 1800]
"Damn it, does that mean I basically did nothing just now!" Lucky was in an extremely bad mood. In this one Turn, the damage he dealt was recovered, the Monster he Destroyed was revived. Aside from consuming two of that kid's Cards, he did absolutely nothing.
"That's not true. Didn't you also Summon three Powerful Monsters, Mr. Lucky?" Hayato smiled.
Lucky was confused: "What Powerful Monsters? I clearly didn't Summon any Monsters."
"You certainly didn't Summon them yourself, but I used this Card to help you Summon them." Hayato pointed to the Card whose Effect hadn't been activated yet. "Ojama Trio, its Effect is to send three Hindrances to the opponent's side so they don't come back."
From an angle Lucky couldn't see, in the Card Art of the Ojama Trio Hayato activated, the three awakened Card Spirits—the Ojama Brothers—were thrown out from inside with their bags and luggage. Flying in the air, the three Spirits kept arguing and calling out, "Aniki~" "Aniki!"
"It really feels relaxing without those annoying Hindrances." Looking at the three annoying ghosts sent to Lucky's Field, the smile on Hayato's face was incredibly genuine; one could visibly feel him relax quite a bit.
