Chapter 22: You Think Using Burn Cards is Despicable, So What Does That Have to Do With My Drain Cards?

"What you said... seems to make sense?" Jonouchi was bewildered by Hayato's words. Thinking about it, it did seem that way. It seemed no one stipulated that a person could only have one Soul Card, right?

For example, if someone's Soul Card is Blue-Eyes White Dragon, does that mean when they Fusion Summon Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon by fusing three Blue-Eyes, they are sacrificing their Tamashii?

Without continuing to chat with Jonouchi, Hayato explained the effect of Ojama Trio to the frantic Shouji opposite him: "The effect of this Card I activated is to Summon three 'Ojama Tokens' on your Field that cannot be Tributed."

"Cannot be Tributed!?" Shouji was somewhat frantic. In the current Rules, there was no mention of "Tribute" for Monster Summoning, only a few Spell Card effects required Tributing, for example, when a Monster equipped with Axe of Despair was Destroyed, one Monster could be Tributed to return Axe of Despair to the top of the Deck.

Another example is Hayato's Axe of Despair, which forces the Tributing of a Normal Monster on your own Field after activation.

"So that means these three disgusting Monsters, which look like a week-old stinky durian thrown from the sixth floor and then run over by a road roller ten times, are going to keep occupying the spots on my Field!?"

Hayato ignored Shouji's strange analogy and added, "Not only that, but they will also deal 300 points of damage to you when they are Destroyed."

"What kind of fake Cards are those!?" Shouji was already uncomfortable enough looking at Necrofear Earl, who knew Hayato would send over three even uglier Monsters. "You three Monsters that look like feces, go die!"

"Ugh~"

"Huh~"

"Hic~"

The three Ojama Monsters, looking like they were relaxing by the beach, were incredibly thick-skinned. They clearly heard Shouji's roar but pretended not to, acting like dead pigs unafraid of boiling water. Especially the one-eyed, long-tongued Ojama Green, who even flipped over on the beach chair because the sun on the Rooftop was too strong.

"Damn it!"

Shouji was grinding his teeth, wishing he could imitate Hayato and Summon his own fists onto the Field to tear the three Ojama Monsters to shreds. However, Hayato opposite him wouldn't end his Turn early just because Shouji detested the Ojama Monsters. "'Ojama Tokens' are all Beast-Type 2☆ LIGHT Attribute Monsters with 0 ATK and 1000 DEF. Although destroying one of them will deal damage to you, unfortunately, the Monster with the highest ATK in my Hand is this one."

Slapping a Card from his Hand onto the Field, Hayato still Summoned Death Stalker. Looking at the Necrofear Earl opposite, Dual Wielding weapons with a high ATK of 2500, and then at its own weak 900 ATK, the poisonous scorpion warrior, Death Stalker, looked somewhat confused after being Summoned.

Wait, that one opposite me is clearly not on the same level as me, boss? I think you want me dead.

"Hmph, facing my Necrofear Earl, you still dare to stay in Attack Position? You don't know death from life." Shouji couldn't help but laugh at Hayato's terrible play. Necrofear Earl's ATK was 2500, a full 1600 points higher than Death Stalker's 900, and even higher than Hayato's remaining 1400 Life Points.

Wasting his Summoning opportunity on Summoning a weakling, what difference would it make even if he used some Equip Spells to increase his ATK? Let him destroy the annoying Ojama Monsters; it was only 300 points of damage anyway. In his next Turn, he could easily wipe out his Life Points!

"Oh dear, still 100 points short of the Ojama Token, a miscalculation, a miscalculation." Feigning regret, Hayato drew another Card from his Hand. "Just kidding, I'm also activating this Spell Card."

A Spell Card appeared on Hayato's Field. Before Shouji could even see what Card Hayato activated, a whirlwind suddenly surged from the Card Art, sweeping up Ojama Yellow, who was lying on the beach chair.

Ojama Black and Ojama Green turned their heads to look, only to find their brother had completely shed his lazy demeanor from before. He was actually standing beside Necrofear Earl, waving his little fists with a look of enthusiasm.

"The Spell Card I activated is Defense Paralysis," Hayato said unhurriedly, gesturing at the Spell Card on the Field. "According to its effect, it can change one Defense Position Monster on your Field to Face-up Attack Position. I choose the 'Ojama Token' that was just Summoned to your Field."

"The Monster changed to Attack Position! This way, Hayato can deal a lot of damage to that Manjoume in one go, that's great!" Jonouchi was full of excitement, but Yugi was somewhat worried.

"Begin Battle! Go, Death Stalker, Scarlet Poison Needle!"

The scorpion warrior stood up on its hind legs, slightly charged its tail stinger, and then thrust it out fiercely. Ojama Yellow, in a boxer's stance, didn't react at all, maintaining a look of astonishment as it was instantly defeated by Death Stalker. The 900 points of damage caused by the Battle were fully received by Shouji.

[Shouji: 1500 LP → 600 LP]

It wasn't over yet! Ojama Yellow, hit by the tail stinger, was so weak in Battle Power that it flew directly away after being defeated. The Solid Vision image flew straight towards Shouji's face. An ugly yellow Monster wearing disgusting red striped underwear was coming to sit on his face with its butt. Shouji was so scared he threw a punch but hit nothing, only then remembering it was just Solid Vision.

However, the loss of Life Points was real.

[Shouji: 600 LP → 300 LP]

"You damn bastard!" Because Ojama Yellow had caused him to lose face so badly just now, Manjoume Shouji blamed everything on Hayato opposite him. "Next Turn, next Turn I'll have Necrofear Earl Destroy that weakling of yours! Taste Manjoume's wrath!"

"Unfortunately, you won't have another Turn." Hayato didn't declare the End Turn after the Attack. "According to the Rules of the game, there is a Main Phase 2 after the Battle Phase. Although most people don't use it, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. In my Main Phase 2, I'm activating this Spell Card."

Hayato showed a Spell Card from his Hand and placed it on the Field.

"There's another Spell Card!?" Shouji's eyes widened, staring intently at the Spell Card on the Field, wanting to see the Card's Effect.

"This Card's name is Goblin Thief. As the name suggests, it's a Goblin whose profession is a thief." A chubby Goblin sneaked out of the Card, then, pretending everyone was blind and thinking it wasn't seen, tiptoed to Shouji's Duel Platform and bent down to look for something on the ground.

"How did it get onto my Field again!" Shouji was about to go crazy. First, there was Necrofear Earl, who looked like a rotting corpse, then the disgusting Ojama Monsters, especially Ojama Yellow, who almost sat on him with its butt. Now there was a greasy Goblin?!

"What the Goblin Thief steals isn't anything else, but your Life Points. According to its Effect, I can drain 500 Life Points from you." As Hayato spoke, the Goblin Thief dug a ball of light from Shouji's Duel Platform. As soon as it got its hands on it, it immediately ran back wildly, placing the ball of light in front of Hayato's Duel Platform.

[Shouji: 300 LP → 0]

[Hayato: 1400 LP → 1900 LP]

"Congratulations, Shouji-kun, your house was robbed, the kind that leaves you bankrupt."

Shouji, however, was enraged by Hayato's words. "You shameless guy, using such despicable Burn Cards, that's not manly at all!"

"Hey, hold on. If you say that, wouldn't Volcanic be the most underhanded Deck in the world? Besides," Hayato wouldn't accept the "despicable" label Shouji gave him, "you think using Burn Cards is despicable, so what does that have to do with my Drain Cards?"

(Author's Note) Hmm. I feel the Duel structure wasn't exciting enough. Actually, I could have used Goblin Thief in Main Phase 1, but I put it in Main Phase 2 for plot reasons.

(Author's Note) And even the appearance of Death Stalker was just to leave that little bit of Life Points for Goblin Thief to finish off. Actually, I could have just used a Baby Dragon to deal with the opponent.

(Author's Note) Others make comebacks with a God Draw of a powerful Card, but I used a weaker Card. That's not too much of a problem, right?

(Author's Note) Regarding Ojama Trio, there was already a detailed description when the self-selection option was opened earlier, so I feel it wasn't too hard to guess (three Monsters, related to destruction, though guessing Ojama Delta Hurricane!! might also be possible).

(Author's Note) Manjoume Shouji's Duel will have follow-up effects later, pushing the main plot behind the scenes, although the reason seems a bit childish, something about love.

(Author's Note) Also, considering his younger brother is also like this, it's quite reasonable for him to be like this when he was young. Moreover, his Deck was assembled by his Subordinate, which doesn't ruin the character setting in GX of someone being rich and foolish, holding a Vanilla Deck and calling it a rare Card.

(Author's Note) Also, surely no one hasn't guessed that his younger brother is Manjoume Jun, right?

(Author's Note) Speaking of which, he could actually also be called Manjoume Lightning (Lightning and 'sensei' sound similar).

(Author's Note) Manjoume's match is basically a Duel between Yugi and Hayato, a Duel of destiny. The Protagonist won't interfere too much, and also needs to start thinking about how to get to Duelist Kingdom.

(Author's Note) The recommended word count for this chapter was 500, and I actually wrote 475 words. Amazing.

(Author's Note) Isn't it a bit wordy?
