"Huh? Where am I?" Satoya groaned as if he had the worst sleep of his life, and in fact, he did – technically. He found himself in the middle of the streets of the very city he was visiting, as he and his friends decided to visit one of the 1st Capital's Rieamaius's city for his birthday, although they all actually lived in a different Capital. He found it quite strange, wiping the gravel and rock off his hands, he stood up, utterly confused.
"I could've sworn I was in the apartment.." He scratched his head, he looked around. This place was an exact replica of the same city, but seemed to be post rain judging off of the puddles of rainwater, and the weird musky, moist scent, along with the humid feeling in the air that makes it feel like his shirt is sticking onto his skin. "I always hated going outside after it rained, but where is everyone?"
He instinctively checked his pocket, but then realized, where is his phone? Well, I guess you could call him a typical screenager for that action, but furthermore, he let out a small sigh, and started walking forward, trying to find ANY sign of someone's presence. Eventually, he simply gave up, leaning against a light pole of a city block near his apartment.
He started thinking, "Did I somehow get transported into an empty world? What kind of fictional troupe is this?!" He started panicking before he remembered this might be a dream. Thus, he started pinching his arm, tried tugging his hair, tried every possible solution he had in mind, but he couldn't 'wake' up at all.
Without any answer, he just started walking forward, looking around, trying to see if there's any difference, and he took a step into what was a seemingly innocent puddle of rain water. As soon as he took that step, he felt as if he fell into a pool of water. He felt the surge of water engulf him, however, he fell through another puddle, he then shouted in surprise.
As Satoya regained his balance, he looked back at the puddle he came from, and gave it an odd stare. "What the?" He thought as he turned around to see where he was transported to. Yet again, it felt extremely humid, but found himself in a forest, where a stone path led into a distant shrine. Below the shrine was a waterfall where koi fish roamed in the waters. "Oh wait! This is Okamura!" Satoya realized, but his eyes narrowed.
He took a closer look at the koi fish, the ripples in the water caused by the movement of the fish, "I visited this place before, on my 14th birthday.." He made a light smile and as he leaned more to see his reflection, he noticed something odd.
His reflection was his usual face, y'know the basic black hair, brown eyes, however… What is that ominous blue scar on his cheek? He slowly touched the cheek where the scar was reflected on, but he felt nothing. There was a sense of unease in the air, and his instincts were yelling at him to run, to flee, but to where? Then he felt as if something pushed him into the water.
Yet again, he somehow "fell" or well, thrown out of another larger puddle back to the Rieamaius where he first arrived. However, he noticed that there was a metallic, putrid scent in the air. There was blood splattered onto the buildings and ground, except he knows for certain there isn't anyone here, but why is there blood everywhere?
The more he walked around, the more of the mysterious blood blotches he came across, it made him realize something.
Sometimes, peaceful moments in time can be suddenly interrupted.
And he recognized words forming in front of him.
What lengths would you go to prevent this?
"To prevent this?"
Suddenly he woke up in the morning, the bright rising sun shined through the window, he could see the dust lingering in the air. He was back to the normal world.
Although a normal person in the morning would stretch or at least do something productive, all Satoya did was sit on his bed, blankly staring at a wall, trying to decipher what that question that is still lingering in his head meant.
"what lengths would I go to prevent all of this?"
A jolt of unending motivation made him feel as if he's like an old machine being powered back up, he came up with an amazing idea.
"Mind as well become a Regulator."
