Timothy nudged me and said, "Jacob, isn't that Amelia? What's she doing with Jeremy Wright? Man, it's a shame you've been eyeing her for years and never made a move!"
I glanced at Timothy and asked, "Jeremy? You know that guy?"
Timothy nodded. "Yeah, I know him, but not well. His family has some money too, but he's a real piece of work. He's taken advantage of a lot of girls. Jeremy sometimes uses date rape drugs!"
I laughed and said, "Isn't that kind of like you?"
Timothy immediately goggled at me, frowning as if affronted and clarified, "No way! At least the girls I've been with were willing!"
As I heard that, a fit of cold anger flashed in my eyes.
If Jeremy was just trying to date Amelia, I wouldn't interfere. But if he was using dirty tricks, I couldn't just stand by and let Amelia get hurt.
Timothy motioned for me to go say hi, but I shook my head.
Just then, Jeremy asked Amelia, "Amelia, what do you want to eat?"
"Anything. Just order whatever. After we eat, I want to go back to the dorm," Amelia mumbled impatiently, without even a glance at what Jeremy was doing.
It was obvious Amelia didn't want to be there with Jeremy.
Jeremy ordered a few dishes and then sat across from Amelia, smiling slyly. "How about we go out after this? I know a great spot!"
It was clear he had ulterior motives.
"No, I don't want to go out. I want to go back," Amelia insisted.
Jeremy's face darkened. "Amelia, you have to listen to me! Your mom told me to take good care of you at school! Are you going against your mom's wishes?"
He actually tried to use Amelia's mom to pressure her.
Hearing this, I was pissed.
I stood up, walked over to their table, and sat down next to Amelia.
Amelia looked surprised at first, but then she smiled when she saw me. "Jacob, you're here too!" I nodded, ignoring Jeremy, and smiled at Amelia: "Yeah, just grabbing a bite."
Even without looking, I could feel Jeremy's anger.
Sure enough, before I could say much to Amelia, Jeremy stood up, pointed at me, and rounded on me. "Who the hell are you? Who said you could sit here? Get lost."
I wasn't about to take that from him.
I grabbed his pointing hand and slapped him across the face.
He stumbled back.
"Who do you think you are, pointing at me?" I stood up, glaring at Jeremy. "Amelia doesn't want to go out with you, and you're using her mom to threaten her? You're pathetic!"
With that, I slapped him again.
Jeremy, still in a daze, steadied himself from his stumble and threatened as if he owned this place, "How dare you hit me! Do you know who I am? You're asking for trouble!"
I couldn't stand this guy.
I took a couple of steps forward, kicked him in the gut, and knocked him to the ground.
I was about to kick him a few more times, but Amelia grabbed my clothes. "Jacob, stop!"
Hearing Amelia, I stopped and said, "If he bothers you again, just let me know. I'll deal with him."
Then I gave Jeremy a fierce look.
