Chapter 69 - CHAPTER SIXTY-EIGHT

Thalia is hiding now; she ended up in the basement with her cousin. She witnessed the rapid events with her own eyes. Her whole body trembled; she was still there in the shade of the tree, hiding his presence so she wouldn't be noticed.

Isabel? What are you doing here? Are you letting the women they rescued be caught and return to that hellish warehouse? Her questions followed one after another, which she knew her current mindset couldn't yet answer.

Her visions during her journey have come true.

She was suddenly attacked and had to embark on another journey.

She sees the event again. A knife and a woman standing, looking at something—she was shocked by what she witnessed; she saw her own bloodied and lifeless body, and she looked at the one who killed her.

Isabel. She thought to herself. She heard a gunshot coming from behind her and saw Ericka.

Thalia gasped then. This is a warning—a warning she needs to avoid. She returned, leaning against the wood; the surroundings were quieting down. She moved carefully; she was observing the surroundings.

She knew that there was another woman who was acting as a spy in a basement; she heard gunfire, probably with her cousin's companions. But it was too late when they arrived.

She knows the woman with Isabel, none other than Tricia.

They have long prepared for this to find out who is the mastermind behind the uprising in the organization. I didn't expect this to happen. I need to see and find the evidence that my cousin, Fernan, hid.

She saw the basement; Thalia doesn't know why she stared at it—she just walked in.

Thalia heard someone crying. She searched for it. Thalia's eyes are closing at the tragedy she sees; so many died before the new dawn arrived. She was looking for it because she noticed there was someone; it stopped crying.

She searched everywhere where a person might be hiding. She hurriedly went to the cabinet then. She opened it. She saw a woman bleeding with a bullet graze.

She was startled by her holding a knife.

"Who are you? Who are you?" The woman kept asking her.

"Calm down, don't worry, I won't hurt you." Thalia assured the woman.

"Don't lie to me, don't. Are you with Tricia?" The woman asked, tears suddenly streaming down her face out of fear.

"No, I know them as 'D—Delta' and 'B—Beta,'" she recalled the codenames given to her.

Thalia saw her calm down; they heard footsteps. "Come on," she whispered.

She quickly went out; they hid for a moment; someone was walking back and forth.

"Tricia, come on," she heard a woman's voice.

"I heard a voice." This is what she said.

"There's no one here, Tricia." She sighed.

Her companion still wouldn't budge, praying that they wouldn't be seen. Suddenly, there was a clattering of objects, so the two women quickly went to check.

Thalia signaled the woman to come out, and they passed through the back door that only they knew about. They immediately fell into darkness, which she was grateful for because she didn't yet fully understand the layout of the basement. She pulled the woman .

Using William's knowledge, she was able to use it as well, but she knew she still didn't fully understand the possible exits.

"Do you still have someone with you there?" She looked back at the woman she was dragging.

She shook her head. "Some of the caregivers saved others when the helpers arrived, but almost all of my female companions were caught and taken back to the warehouse." Its voice was filled with fear.

She was thankful that she was able to save some, but she was still disheartened because those women would return to the warehouse.

Thalia had already seen the possible outcome for the captured women; she closed her eyes then. She sighed.

She will go to the nearby hut that she knows. She was catching her breath then.

"Does Tricia know about other huts?" Thalia asked the woman.

Her mind was in turmoil, and she could only shake her head.

"That's all we know." She said.

"I see; I know where your other companions were taken." She said.

When she had stepped in, suddenly weapons blocked her way. So, she just raised her hands at that moment.

"Wait, I know her." The man said.

"Go on, let them in." That was her cousin's voice.

Vince even signaled her.

"Before your companion enters, please pat her down first; there might be a tracking device on her." She didn't know the man who was with her cousin back then.

"You do the pat-down yourself, Thalia." Her cousin ordered her. She just did what she was told.

Thalia didn't notice any tracking device on her body; she even patted her down when she noticed something.

"What is this?" she asked her cousin.

It looks like a small phone is placed here.

"Don't worry, that's for William." Vince took it from her hand.

"You can go ahead," Vince even told them.

Upon entering, she immediately saw the other rescued women. The rescued women numbered only to Thalia's hands. Once again, she was disheartened by what she had witnessed.

She even saw someone hugging the woman named Fiona.

"First, treat her wound." Her cousin ordered.

"Tell me if you notice anything unusual." The man standing next to her cousin uttered these words.

She saw William busy with his laptop.

"Are there any important pieces of information there?" Vince asked him.

William turned to Vince. "Yeah, but I already deleted and destroyed it. Thanks for helping, Zenne."

"Welcome," said a person named Zenne.

"I'm proud of you for arriving here safely; I suddenly worried that you were no longer at the scene and got caught with the women who were detained." He was glued to the laptop screen.

"Can we save the others?" she asked back then, worried.

He just sighed at her question. "We will do our best to get those back. I'm just hoping that they are no longer a corpse."

Thalia just clenched her fist. But what can she do? She can't act like a hero if she can't even save herself.

She just sat down. She needs to think of a way.

Should I travel? Can I really do this? She thought to herself.

Someone suddenly handed her a cup of milk back then.

"Drink it while it's still hot." He just ruffled her hair. Thalia just nodded.
