Jade's eyes filled with tears, her vision blurring as Liam's harsh words sank deep into her soul. She stood frozen, her heart pounding so loudly she could barely hear anything else. This wasn't how she expected the day to end. She had come in hoping for a second chance, maybe some leniency but the look in Liam's eyes told her there would be none.
Her throat tightened, panic clawing its way up her chest. She stepped forward slightly, trying to reach him with her words, hoping to strike a chord of mercy.
"But I have a family to support," she choked out, her voice cracking. Her hands trembled as they twisted together, her posture pleading. "Please…"
But Liam stood like a statue—calm, unshaken, unbothered. His face was stern, and his eyes, cold. When he finally spoke, his voice didn't raise. It didn't need to. It was sharp, direct, and full of finality.
"Get lost."
