Just as it came in Arthur's vision, what he saw nothing similar to how he imagined it to be. No unseen, unkillable, grotesque monster but a corrupted in the armor, holding a blood stained, rusted sword.
The corrupted was taller, bulkier and what looked like a dark silver knight's armor with dark gray coloured skin with mud green veins all over it. Only part of the armor missing was helmet and a cloak.
Arthur did his very best to not sigh in relief. He even hold his breath, afraid that this thing could hear or feel him breathing.
Only after the corrupted left did he exhaled his breath. Counting time until the potion wears off, he decided to make his move and go to the path the corrupted was standing.
The corridor was completely eerie, there was not blood stains, no pieces of flesh, only dust and debris everywhere. Soon Arthur found another unlocked door.
Arthur peeked inside only to find out it was some kind of storage, or could be something else with mix of rotten food, clothes, armor, weapons and things he couldn't put his finger on.
Arthur didn't wait to enter the room and started rummaging through the stock piles. The more he looked the more stunned Arthur was, there wasn't only quality but also quantity here.
Sword, spear, dagger knife, staff, hand-to-hand technique manuals with vegetable seeds, cloth, leather and metal armors, various weapons, even skill books and things that looked like parts of some mechanical devices.
The problem wasn't the resources, but the amount he can carry on himself, there were too much to take, he couldn't help but curse internally at the inventory and its useless feature.
With a sour mood he flipped the pages of the first manual he saw, only to get his last hope deflated like a balloon. He checked another and another until he realization dawned on him. The manuals...yeah you can guess, they were bitten off of rats, all of them, not a single one left intact. even the seed packs were eaten, luckily their were at least few seeds remained, of what type was anybody's guess.
He than walked to the corner of skill books hoping them to be intact, and as if someone answered his prayers what he saw made his anger boil. There were two skills, but the problem was, both of them were Rank-6. Its like giving a hope only to be taken at last moment.
The silver lining, or what can be considered a consolation prize, was that the weapons and armors, even though damaged, at least had decent durability.
As he was rummaging through the leftovers, he suddenly heard footsteps and a growling noise, primal, guttural roar trying to contain it self. The regenerator, or more hopefully the corrupted knight, was getting closer, slowly, step by step, as if it knew exactly where Arthur was.
Arthur didn't locked the door on purpose, from how it was armed, it could have a decent intelligence for all he knew, and with only one door in the room and no window in sight, if it called its 'friends' then there will be guaranteed death, or could be much worse.
Arthur decided to hide behind the large racks just beside him, eyes fixed on the door, and just as he did, that thing as if waiting on cue opened the door.
Thankfully it didn't make much sound and the creature came inside, still growling, but this time, moved its neck as if looking around. This sent alarm bells inside Arthur. He didn't know if it could see but now is not the time to find out.
It would be better to take it down in a single, decisive baseball strike.
Arthur moved, circling to get behind it silently while the corrupted knight roamed the space, still searching for something. Slowly Arthur crept closer and just as he got in the striking range he stabbed his sword in the skull of that thing with all his strength.
The sword, with some difficulty successfully penetrated the skull but failed to emerge from the other side. This was it, just as he relaxed though the corrupted moved again. Clearly not down for the count. Arthur though monetarily surprised didn't back down.
He left the sword embedded in the skull and unsheathed his dagger. Just as he got readied to stab again he lost his chance. The corrupted knight was clearly enraged and sung his sword with his guttural roar finally unleashed.
It's roar got Arthur momentarily disoriented, but because of his past experience, he crouched down and dodged the incoming sword. With newfound opening and no chance to hesitate, he lunged forward and closed the distance and pushed the dagger in a single hard thrust.
Just as it was about to get connect the knight tilted his head to side ways, its eyes, or the holes where it's eyes supposed to be, locked onto him.
