Chapter 39 - Disciple Cultivation System ch39 Meeting the protagonist pt2.

"So how are you going to help me mister therapist?" She inquired after which she took a sip of the warm coffee on the table.

Art didn't answer right away, he first gestured for her to wait after which he took the menu and began to read through.

Since he was in a breakfast joint he might as well get something to eat.

"Waiter."

Beckoning for the nearest, a tanned skin elf received his order and approach with a note book in hand.

"Good morning! Welcome to Sunnyside, are you ready to order." The elf in a white shirt and black apron around her waist smiled politely.

"Yes.. some extra fuffly pancakes. Lot's of syrup."

"Understood you order will be ready in a few minutes."

Having jotted down his order she assured and quickly took to her feets to prepare his order.

"Pancakes..heh..." Valarie smirk

"What about it?"

"For you apperenace you seem offerly vanilla."Leaning back in the chair she added.

"In what way?"

"That you act mature but deep down you're a child at heart."

"...."

"Judging by you lack of reaction I guess I'm right."

Popping of the remianing chocolate into his mouth, he sighed.

"You know you're pretty shallow."

"Is that an insult?"

"In personality I mean. You might fool that crazy girl but not me. You appear deep as a character, you try to be interactive with the students and teachers alike with you masterful awakening and the perfect gentle man front you're being doing. I wonder how long it will take for you to break?"

"And why do you say that?"

"Do you ask questions alot because you're uncertainty."

"...."

"You remain silent when connered."

"I guess I wasn't the only doing observation."

This side of Valarie was knew to him. She wasn't a braindead protagonist but she wasn't one know fo her observation skills either. She was the type to not take those things into consideration so how came she could tell so much about him.

"It's wasn't form an observation." She corrected, uncertainty all over her face.

"It was something I'll always know."

"You make it sound as if we'll meet before." Art shakened a bit shrugged his shoulders.

"We haven't,not that I'll remember of such instances but I do feel I know more about you than I should."

"Care you tell me more... about me?"

Discarding the chills he was getting,he told her to continue.

"Witches make me shudder and kisses uncomfortable."

For the first time Art's stern look crumbled as his eyes widened. Him hating witchs and kiss wasn't a secret but even so he had only told one person and that was Grim and he doubted Grim would have told Valarie so how did she know.

"Please continue." Panicked he gesture for a followup.

"That's all I can remember since I've lost parts of my memories."

"Huh?"

Art's faced paled as he suddenly gained a bad premonition. Why was Valarie talking about a memory lose, she shouldn't have one.

This wasn't.....

Art's mind grew blank for a moment as he jerked his head upward and found time has slowed.

No it hadn't his reflexes had unnaturally kicked in, sending his brain into overdrive as he noticed a distorted silhouette in the now monochrome world.

"Huh?"

He blinked and saw a crimson javelin launched outside the cafe and darting toward Valarie.

The air ripples and the javelin surpressing the speed of a jet, blitz through the street, tore through continuous asphalt and it's tip penetrated the glass separating the cafe from the outside world.

Time began to fasten, shards of glass bursting out the cracking window like confetti.

Art by then has began to move, his body jumping over the table and intercepting the paths of the spear.

It was a weapon launched with the force of a bombardment, if it's trajectory wasn't alternated, it will bring ruins so Art did the first thing that came to his mind.

He didn't bring his sword and no culinary would be sufficient enough to alter the path, so his hand will be sacrificed.

As the spear mad it's way through the cracks, Arts grabbed a hold of it's, sending a shockwave of pain through his body but he gritted his teeth forcefully pushing his arm along the spear up and sending him rocketing through the cieling one's the monochrome world had came to an end.

He lacked the necessary strength and weapon to block it but he had enough strength to shift it's pathway into the sky were less harm will be achieved.

A series of shockwave brought Valarie to her senses as the glass window beside her shattered to let in a crismon spear.

Lacking in speed she wasn't able to react in time but she didn't need to ask a figure rushed in beside her and took the blow meant for her.

He failed miserably and was sent out the ceiling in the process.

The sudden shock for what had happened first brought about silence as many tried process what had happened but soon chaos erupted as abundance of crowds grew displaced and began scattering around.

Valarie on the other hand was neither calm nor extremely panicked. She first looked up the ceiling dropping fragments of dust from the gulping hole above. Through it she could see Art still trying to intercept the spear path by completely directing it upwards while moving along with it.

If he were to fall for right now, the chances of him dying was 20% so she didn't have to worry about him.

What she needed to worry about was the figure in dark worn cloak marching through the crowds and towards her.

"I need to ran."

Quickly taking to her feets, she grabbed a plate from a nearby table and and tossed it at the approaching individual.

They effortless slapped it away, shattering the plates in the process but she had long taken off by then, using the cafes backdoor.

It lead to a alley full of trash and on the left was the main streets full of chaos while the right was a high fence.

Taking the right turn, she kicked of the ground, landed on a dumpster before leaping up one's more, this time grabbing a hold of the metal stairs of the nearby building and using the force to propelling herself foward in a swing that launched her over the metal fence and onto the otherside.

With her heart at pounding rapidly, she ranned through the wet alleyway, turning turns without thinking.

She didn't know what she was so scared but the cloak individual gave her the creeps.

They had tried killing her one's so no matter what she wasn't allowed to be caught.

Art whom she didn't think much of had saved her and brought her sometime, now she just needed to ran and ran without looking back.

-----------------

"Mission compromise!"

Marching through the maze like alleyway with heavy steps, a chilling whisper echoced from the hood of the cloaked individual.

[Who interfere?]

Another voice, this one distance and clearly made possible due to long distance transmitter followed.

"An unknown variable. Should I eliminate it?"

Halting their movement, strangs of scarlet hair was made visible as they looked up and observed the sky.

[No...for now continue the mission. Capture that girl either death or alive.]

"Understood."

The clocked figure was undoubtedly displeased by the message but they said nothing, their sharpened crimson

eyes growing narrow as they stared far ahead at their escaping prey.
