Chapter 10 – The Revelation of the World (Part 2)

Cordelia:

— Ah... ah... so sleepy. It's been a while since I've slept like that...

She looks to the side and sees Adrian still sleeping.

— Hey, get up! We have a lot to do today!

Adrian:

— Alright, alright... I'm up. Ugh, my whole body hurts... Hey, Cordelia, where are we searching for your parents today?

Cordelia:

— We're getting close to the ruins you found. But first, I need to ask you a few questions.

Adrian:

— What is it?

Cordelia:

— First, did you bring supplies?

Adrian:

— Of course I did.

Cordelia:

— At least you're not as dumb as I thought. Hand them over.

Adrian:

— Why? — he asks while handing over the rations.

Cordelia examines them carefully.

— We're inside a broken divine domain. I need to know how much food we have so I can figure out how long we can search for my parents before we have to get out of here. If we ration well, maybe three weeks.

Adrian:

— What's a broken divine domain?

Cordelia:

— It's where the legacy of a dead god lies. It used to be their divine realm when they were alive. Now it's just fragments, leftovers after their death.

Adrian:

— I see...

Cordelia:

— Wait, how do you not know that? Wasn't it in the journal?

— That kind of information? — she asks, confused.

Adrian:

— Well... the journal only showed the location of the legacy and some equipment.

Cordelia:

— So you don't know anything about heirs or divine domains?

Adrian:

— Actually...

Cordelia:

— I already knew you were dumb, but I didn't think you were this dumb!

Adrian:

— Is that really so important? — he asks, confused.

Cordelia:

— Of course it is, you idiot! Ugh... fine, I'll explain what I know. Otherwise, you're going to get yourself killed trying to fight a monster without having the slightest idea what you're doing.

— Look, I already mentioned divine domains. Now let's talk about heirs. There are three types of heirs, at least from what I know:

Race Heirs, who inherit mythical or legendary beasts;

Divine Heirs, who inherit gods;

Subordinate Heirs, who inherit heroes.

— Got it?

Adrian:

— Yes, I'm following.

Cordelia:

— Then there are the power levels I know:

Superhuman — Humans who have surpassed natural limits. Stronger, faster... At most, they can destroy a house.

Supernatural — This is where heirs start gaining powers that defy logic, like flying or manipulating fire. It depends on the type of legacy. At this level, your strongest attack could destroy an entire street.

Hero — This one is different from the others.

Adrian:

— Why?

Cordelia:

— Adrian, you know we inherit divine spirits that left behind myths or legends, right?

Adrian:

— Yeah, I know. So?

Cordelia:

— If you reach the Hero level, you'll have to perform one of those legendary feats. For example, if your spirit saved 100 people, you'll have to repeat that feat to reach this level. At full power, someone at this level could destroy an entire city.

Adrian:

— Incredible... So this is the world of heirs... So you're saying a Hero could destroy the city we live in?

Cordelia:

— Yes. If it weren't for the divine barrier, cities would have already been destroyed. That barrier suppresses everyone's power by 90%. Inside it, we can only use 10% of our total strength.

Adrian:

— So that's why I've never heard of any of this...

Cordelia:

— One more thing. In places like this, you can find power stones — crystal fragments charged with divine or demonic energy. Some people trade them, others use them to temporarily boost their strength. But be careful — they also attract monsters.

Adrian:

— Got it...

Cordelia:

— Enough talk. Time to start looking for my parents. Let's go — she says, tossing him some food.

— Take this. You'll get hungry on the way — she says as she walks out the door.

Adrian:

— Wait for me! — he shouts, running after Cordelia.
