I was still going through the doubts in my heart when my phone rang. The nurses brought it to me after I woke up.
Looking at the screen, a name saved as Mum popped up, it was a video call.
I hesitated, unsure if I should answer.
Instead of picking the video call, I switched it to a voice call.
"Hello, honey," her soft voice came over the phone, and I blinked.
"Hello, Mum." The words struggled to leave my mouth. She wasn't my mum.
"How are you doing now? How's your work? Hope you are fine?" The questions all popped up with curiosity.
"I'm alright, Mum, and everything is just fine," I said, my tone much softer.
She gasped. "I got so scared when I saw the news about the accident in Italy. I couldn't imagine it being you. I would have lost my mind," she said. I heard a man's voice in the background. I sensed it could be her husband, my supposed Dad.
