Chapter 254 - Adonis' proposal

 Adonis smiled.

"The Alpha? Ah, Anna... The boss wanted to kill her himself, for hiding the existence of his son from him."

Anna felt the tears welling up again. Adonis was right. Her father wouldn't spare Jenna without the intervention of someone like Adam, and when Adam found out everything, he was likely to celebrate, and even participate in Jenna's death. Although her father had said he wouldn't give her a slow death, he might not be able to resist. She was afraid of what her father would do to Jenna. He didn't know why she had hidden the diary, nor did he understand why she had lied about it being stolen. But that didn't matter. She was his friend. She stood by her and kept her secret, even though she knew it could cost her her life. She deserved Anna to do everything in her power to try and save her. And even at the risk of Adam refusing, she would ask him for help. But first, she had to eliminate all other resources.

"Adonis, can you bypass Henry's security and get Jenna out of the house without anyone knowing? We could send her to another country where she would be safe. She's a werewolf, she can take refuge in their city. In DreamStone."

 Adonis smiled.

 "Yes. I could do that."

Anna felt hope rise in her chest.

"Then I'll get Max to arrange a plane to take her."

 "I didn't say I'd do that, Anna."

 Anna looked at him.

 "You said you could."

"Yes. And being able to do it is different from actually doing it."

"Why wouldn't you save an innocent life?"

"Because I don't care about that, Anna. Besides, if I did, I'd never do anything else in my life. Your father would kill me." He said and stopped the car, a kilometer before they arrived back at the mansion and looked steadily at Anna. "My life has a price, Anna. I... Ever since Sarah said those things, I've been fantasizing about you."

 Anna stared at him uncomprehendingly.

 "What are you talking about?"

"I'll help Jenna, Anna. If you give me something in return."

Anna understood. He wanted to have sex with her. She couldn't say she hadn't thought of that, too. Sarah was a witch and they were young and full of energy. But she couldn't... She'd find another way, but she didn't want to dismiss the possibility."

 "I'll think about it, Adonis."

He smiled and started the car.

"No, Anna. You won't think about it. You'll just eliminate all other options. It's not flattering, but I'm patient. I'll wait."

Anna arrived at the mansion, looking for Adam. She heard from Mycon that he had left, and taken Ian with him. She didn't even care what they were doing. She knew that after what had happened with Genevieve, Adam wouldn't put his own son at risk.

Anna sat at the kitchen table, totally helpless and hopeless, and asked Judith to pour her some coffee.

"Anna... I set the table in the dining room a little while ago. Kate is there. Why don't you have your coffee and join me?"

Anna got up like a robot, dejected and unhurried, and went into the dining room, where Kate was indeed alone having her coffee. After greeting her, she sat down and looked at her curiously.

 "Who died?"

'Kate! No kidding. Dad's going to kill Jenna, and I don't know what else to do to help her or stop this fate...'

"What did Jenna do to activate her father's rage?"

"In short, it looks like she lied about stealing Mom's diary."

"Then let her suffer the consequences of her actions. Take the sadness out of her eyes. When Jenna did this, she must have considered all the possibilities, which could fall on her head. Don't think about it anymore."

 Anna looked at Kate puzzled.

 "You don't seem surprised."

"Are you still surprised by anything that happens in this world of mafia and werewolves? We're dealing with dangerous people. People get killed here for a lot less than what she did. It's the end for Jenna. And she sought that fate with her own hands when she got involved with someone like her father. It was from him that Adam learned not to forgive betrayal, under any circumstances.

"Maybe Adam can intercede for her life."

"He could. And he probably could. But the price would be too high for Jenna. Adam would do much worse than his father. Believe me when I say that it would be better for her to die. Don't give Adam that idea. Because he'll convince your father to give Jenna to you, and you can believe that he'll make Jenna live for many years in constant torment, wishing every minute for the death you're trying so hard to get rid of."

"So I should just sit back?"

"It will be best for Jenna."

Anna let the tears wet her face, and Kate handed her a napkin to replace a handkerchief.

 "And how is Sarah?"

"I finished with her today... But I think it'll be a few days before she dies."

"What do you mean? So you haven't finished your revenge?"

"Yes. I walled her up alive."

Kate looked at Anna with an expression she couldn't quite identify.

"Whose idea was it to wall her up?"

"Actually, it was her. Sarah told me that if she was killed by someone, she would come back as a child, with all her memories. Of course, I didn't believe that nonsense, but she did. And so, she learns that she's going to die, and won't be able to come back."

 "I see..." Kate said thoughtfully.

"Do you blame me for that?"

"Would it help if I did, Anna? As I said before, we're in the midst of dangerous people, I just didn't think you were one of them. And perhaps the most dangerous of them." Kate said, and stood up. "You should be the first to understand your father's motives for killing Jenna. After all, you're the same." She said and left.
