After our conversation drifted into unimportant topics—about the weather, wildflowers, and how annoying Sylas could be when he was being a pest—
"By the way," Lucen said, patting his pants, "there's a place I want to show you."
I turned to him. "What kind of place?"
He gave me a light grin. "My house."
I nearly choked on my own breath. "Your house? Seriously?"
Lucen nodded. "Yeah. You've never been there, right? I thought… you could use a different kind of fresh air. Besides… you already know too much about Sylas and Kaelith. Maybe it's time I got a little… open."
"That's true… And this is the first time you've even mentioned your house," I said, narrowing my eyes. "I honestly thought you lived in some kind of mysterious cave or something."
Lucen chuckled softly. "Caves are too cold. My house is warmer. So, what do you say? Want to come?"
